Serious question for my fellow fisherman!?!?

I'm changing the subject, but that fair-skinned kid needs lots of sunscreen or sunscreen clothes, and a hat with a brim, not a feed & seed cap. A grade school classmate of mine died from skin cancer in his early 50's.

    223/5.56

The case neck is also thicker. This is for reliable functioning in full-auto military guns. If you have a generous chamber throat that was cut with a new reamer, you'd be alright with light (short) bullets. But if the reamer had been resharpened a few times, making a smaller chamber/throat...

    Spotting Scope recomendations

www.betterviewdesired.com is a birdwatchers website with really good reviews of optics. Look them up and spend at least a whole evening reading the articles. No one does it as well.

    Yeti purchase justified?

I'd do an internet search for super insulated coolers. Roto molded plastic isn't new technology, extra thick inslulation isn't new technology, O-rings in lids aren't new either. Yeti's main claim to fame, as I see it, is all the outdoor TV shows they sponsor. Advertising is overhead.

    Winchester Model 70 rifles.

David Petzal (Field & Stream's opinionated rifle editor) even liked the new Winchester.

    AR15 barrel twist

Enough guessing. Search for barrel twist calculator and you will find a bunch of links. The Ken Howell article is interesting. Berger bullets has a calculation page. Browse the various links. Note the twist rate is determined by bullet LENGTH not weight.

    Winchester Model 70 rifles.

It doesn't appear anyone owns one yet. Didn't they hit the market last year or early this year? they should compare favorably with the Browning because both brands are from the same corporation. They may even compare with Remingtons from before Rem got bought by the Freedom Group. The...

    AR15 barrel twist

You could call the gun maker's customer service. I'll just guess something faster than 1 in 9.

    favorite semi auto shotgun

Shims don't shorten a stock that's too long. And Italian shotgun makers are generous with their wood. They seem to think it's easier to remove extra wood than add to a stock.

    power house tours

You can get a tour of the hydro power plant at Garrison Dam, maybe the Great River power plant between Underwood and Washburn, and the Basin Electric plants from near Beulah and Stanton. Call and ask about scheduling, the co-ops often have REC member groups touring by the bus load. The hydro...

    Advise for rookie muskie fishing

Hire a guide. If you should find a rod that magically places the lure right where you're looking, write down the brand and model. One of those is like a shotgun that fits perfectly. I went with a guide on Leech Lake once and didn't take notes. Been kicking myself since.

    1/2 ton towing

You want a box long enough that the 5th wheel plate can be positioned a couple inches in front of the rear axle. If it's right above, or worse anywhere behind the rear axle, the load will cause a loss of traction (steering) at the front wheels. There are "slider" hitches, but just getting an...

    weedless hooks

Try looping a small rubber band through the hook eye, then loop it behind the barb. You may need to bend the point inward for the band to shield the point. If that works, weedless hooks will work even better.

    favorite semi auto shotgun

Everyone has told you to buy what they own. I'm telling you to buy the one that fits YOU. If you now have a shotgun that makes you deadly, measure length of pull, drop at comb, drop at heel. Buy a semi auto with as close to those dimensions as you can find. Don't just toss it to your...

    when does devils peak???

Yup. Time of day is very important. 30 years ago, I could launch my boat at 10AM and be done by 2 or 3PM. After the lake grew and cleared sunrise, sunset, and even night fishing has been much easier than mid day for those who try low light hours.

    when does devils peak???

Weather/water temps and whether the lake level is up or down or rising or falling all affect the peak. I think it peaks between mid May and early July. After that, Sakakawea is hitting its peak. Both are good again during the upland game and waterfowl seasons. Then it's "do I go fishing or...

    Long range photography

Canon lenses are fairly priced, but that doesn't make them affordable to me or justifiable for the amount I'd actually use one. Search out comparisons of Sigma and Tamron lenses. Both are much more affordable than Canon/Nikon/Pentax/Sony/Olympus, etc. Quality/$$ is better than the camera...

    Best Boat Brand?

The nicest boats I've seen are Grady White (salt water/offshore) and Cobalt (fresh water runabout/cruisers). Top grade interiors, well engineered hulls, attention to detail top-notch. Also pricey for their size. Neither is particularly fast, both are easy to pilot.
