Portable Ice Houses: Flip Over vs. Pop-up

After 15 years of use, it's time to retire the old Yukon Fish Trap and look at something new. What are everyone's thoughts on the pop-up vs flip over ice houses. I see wind as more of an issue with the pop-up. I like the idea of having a sled to pile crap on with the flip over. I like the room...

    Weather!

Anyone up on the big lake should get off ASAP. Serious storm coming. Killdeer just got leveled by hail and it's headed towards the Douglas Bay and areas to the west.

    Whole House Fans

Does anyone have a whole house fan installed in their home? I'm contemplating putting one in and am just looking for any firsthand experience with them. I think it would be great to have on those days when it's hot but the evenings are nice and cool. From what I've read they work great for...

    Ef'n Bugs

I hate having a dirty windshield and summer means splattered bugs. I've heard dumping a $0.99 bottle of rubbing/isopropyl alcohol to washer fluid reservoir takes care of bugs pretty good. My concern is if it would cause damage to vehicle finish/paint. Anyone tried it?

What do you do with your fish?

What does everyone do with the fish they are going to keep while ice fishing? I keep mine in a bucket in the house so they don't freeze, stay cold, and are alive when I clean them. I know a couple guys that let them freeze out on the ice. Do you clean them frozen or wait a day for them to thaw?

Bait Pucks - Anyone use them?

It seems like these would be pretty handy for ice fishing baits. Anyone use them?

    Nerf Bars...

So the wife wants nerf bars for the truck. I've never had them on any of my trucks... but she is getting older (don't teller her I said that) and wants them and I'm tired of hearing about it. Question: I travel a fair amount of gravel. What is going to hold up the best? Chrome or stainless...

    Baffin Boots

I'm going to pull the trigger on a set of Baffins pac boos for this winter's activities. Questions for those who have them.... Can you drive a pickup while wearing them? Will a set of ice cleats fit over them? Which style/model to buy?

    Calling all Czech and Bohemians

Growing up mom's side of the family had a good jaternice (pronounced itherniza) recipie. It's pork/liver/garlic/majoram/rice or bread.....Anyway, mom can't seem to find the original recipie. Any of you Walsh County area folks have a recipie laying around you're willing to share?

    Private Gun Sales

I'm considering selling a couple youth 870 20ga shotguns, and am checking into the ND laws. We are fortunate here in ND that we can do this pretty easily. My question is this, other than ID and contact information from the buyer, what else do you guys do? I plan on doing a bill of sale...

    Bismarck Ramps Status

We can use this entry to keep tabs on the ramps in the Bismarck area. ND GnF sent out an announcement yesterday regarding the USACE cutting flows. River is supposed to drop 2 feet, and with the post-flood river channel/bed the expect the majority of ramps in town to be unusable. I have not...

    Brake Cleaner....Who Knew?

I'm sure more than one guy on here has been holding back about using brake cleaner for cleaning guns so I'm going to share. I was speaking to a gunsmith about a stuck muzzle break the other day and he said just spray some of the "green can" Brakekleen brake cleaner in it. Sure as $hit it...

    El Nino 2015-2016

Looking like it is going to be a nice mild winter. Hopefully the snow isn't too deep and ice fishing access is still good. Beer always tastes better when it's 45 degrees and your sitting in the sun ice fishing. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/get-ready-for-one-of-the-strongest-el-ninos-ever/

    Doe / Fawn Pairs

So this is an argument we had in our deer camp several times. What is everyone's thoughts on taking a doe who has a fawn with her. Some will argue that if the fawn no longer has spots that it will survive the winter and be just fine without mom. Spots or no spots on the fawn, I will not take...

Bow Accuracy - When do you call it good?

So yesterday morning I took advantage of the calm winds to tune-up the bow. Now I'm no expert archer, I consider myself average at best.. My goal is to have my grouping size correlate with my yardage, so 20 yards=2 inch group, 40 yards=4 inch group...and so on. I'm not one to take shots beyond...

Ceramic vs. Semi Metalic Brake Pads

Will be changing pads on the wife's CRV next week. It has ceramic pads on it now...as do all our cars. I've always replaced with what the manufacture installed. Just for fun I got to looking at ceramic vs. semi metallic pads, and from what I read semi-metallic pads perform significantly...
