    2H was abysmal. At least the public. 10:1 hunter-to-deer ratio. I'm waiting until the last weekend to try one more time. And that's just for a doe.

    Gun season, a lot of things go out the window. If you're hunting posted, private land, I'd just set up on a stool in some cover and make sure you have a nice view of the travel routes. If you're in early and set up quiet, you'll see deer when everyone around you is pushing the adjacent cover.

    Unless I get invited, after deer season I'm going turn coat and hunting MN for grouse for the rest of the year. They're way more fun, taste better, and I enjoy the woodsy scenery far, far better than eating cattail fuzz and getting poked in the face by reeds in SE ND.

    I'm a Nodak and I prefer hunting water 10 to 1. Especially now with the electronic posting. Give me a chunk of PLOTS or WPA any day. It's way more fun watching the dogs work in water, anyway.

    I'll second the Sylmar vests. Very tough. Easy to put on. I use them on my wirehairs. Act as a little extra protection, and you can adjust the fit to mitigate chaffing.
