    I have no doubt that any ice jam that threatened homes along the river, million dollar homes at that, would be eliminated with explosives, salt or some other solution long before it ever flooded homes miles from the river. I believe it is just a money grab.

    If it's pre-dam than it's meaningless. If we want to get really crazy, all of Bismarck should have to get flood insurance because if Peck broke and then Sak broke, all of Bis would be flooded.

    You might be correct but even an ice jam isn't going to flood homes 2-3 miles from the river in south Bismarck. I doubt there is any logic to the decision other than a money grab.

    Or you didn't live in a flood plain for 25 years and you didn't flood during the flood of 2011 but for some reason the feds come along and decide you are NOW in a flood plain in south Bismarck and your lender must NOW require you to buy flood insurance. And if you don't like, well go F yourself.

    MR Douglas Bay

    Yesterday we fished Douglas Bay. We tried pitching a jig and minnow shallow and pulled BBs deeper. Caught only 2 walleyes on the jigs and nothing on the BBs. Didn’t notice nets flying around us either. Water was 54-56 degrees. Was way better this time of year last year.
