What brand of boat do you run?

I am just starting to play with props. I know I’m poorly proped currently but my peak speed is 59. Tourney load, full gas etc I’m around 55. The funny thing is for all the 62 mph boats there are out there I generally run right with the pack. That said, if I prop right I think u can find a...

    Strictly Sonar: Lowrance/Bird/Garmin

In hull ducer is your answer. Cheap and fairly easy install. They never lose bottom at high speed. - - - Updated - - - I run mine on clear mode and have no issue defining fish. That said I rely fully on side imaging inside of 10-12’. The cone is too small at that depth to matter to me...

    Line counters

Okuma Coldwater reels are amazing as well. Between them and Diawa Lexa it’s pretty hard to go wrong. I got tired of taking reels to scheels due to bad reset buttons.

    New State record

Let the story come out please before prosecuting this guy. This could be 100% legit. If it’s not it’ll come out. For now, Let’s just be happy for him.

    Winter kill

Like I said, Crooked is toast. I also seen dead perch at Makoti lake a week or so ago on shore. So I can’t say the pike are toast but the perch are.

    Casting Slow-Death

It doesn’t seem like they spin that well. I have them but to me they just seem to inconsistent. Owner makes a snell with a super light maybe aluminum hook that doesn’t appear to be bent much but spins really well. - - - Updated - - - Ok I’ve never seen one set up that way.

    Casting Slow-Death

Basically but Carolina rigs don’t have a barrel swivel. Specific to the slow death hook.

    Casting Slow-Death

    - - - Updated - - - This would work fairly well. Key is keeping the bullet weight in front of the barrel swivel. That way it won’t impede the spinning action.

    New B.B. set up

I just got back from Outfitters. Picked up a couple more baiting rods. 7’ ML ugly stick chrome with the white tip. There’s absolutely no need to spend big money on rods you’re dragging a bottom bouncer on. I’m not saying you’re stupid if you do, to each their own, but it’s not necessary...

    scheels or cabelas credit card

Hello Mr. Scheels Rep. Thanks for joining. 1% back outside of scheels is garbage. Even the Cabela’s card is better than that and offers you 2% on gas purchases at most cenex stations and a fair amount of other retailers. There’s better cards out there than either of these tho which is...

    Open Water Watch

The New Town area will very likely be fishable by the weekend. It probably would be already but a bunch of floating ice has gotten pushed in there from the wind. The dark holes back by bears den on the imaging is open water.

    Open Water Watch

I can say with certainty Deepwater is not open. Nor is van hook. The ice coloration just changed or something.

    Ranger 620 / lund 202 pro v gl

I'm on my second Ranger. This one is a 17’ 620. Now I can nit pick a few plastic finishings like glove box and a few other minor things. All in all though Ranger still makes a heck of a boat. I fish an awful lot of rough water and she’s never let me down. I’m not gonna claim it’s the...

    Winter kill

Crooked lake and long lake in McLean county are toast again. They’ve been floating there since February.

    River is open....Well sort of!

Is that just from the high flows from last summer that ate the parking lot away?

    Linking electronics - Humminbird?

If you follow The Technological Angler at all, he knows more about Humminbird than their own people I think. He runs a ducer on both sides of the boat to two screens and runs one half of the side imaging on each of them for maximum clarity and and minimal interference. I’d be all about that...
