    Thanks 5575 and DM, interesting info. Sounds like some crazy fishing with no pattern per se. Kinda matches every trip I take to Sak, might as well pretend I am going there for the first time every time because no 2 trips go the same way. Sounds like the smallies chubs :)

    I "roll my own" leaders, as you say, as well. I use 20lb bare Stainless Steel Leader from Surfstrand. No bite offs, thin and unobtrusive.

    IF they can determine who got 2 and IF it’s a manageable number, they COULD send those folks a self-addressed, stamped envelope requesting they return one of them. Could check them off the list as they come back in and follow up with those that don’t comply.

    That's been the MO with many appointments thus far. Typically they come in, make a big mess, then leave. It's even handier now with telecommuting acceptable so they wouldn't even have to live here.

    I see the lake is at 1836....that's only down a foot from a month ago when I was there and there was plenty of water (over 5 ft) provided you stuck to the creek channel for travel. Most map chips show it pretty well.

    I contact GNF with questions every now and then. They always answer quickly and completely. Rather than wonder, just reach out to them and ask. I doubt there is anything sinister going on. Many of their procedures are written in law. Names and phone numbers can be found here...
