    Hi guys

    MOST EXCELLENT!

    Storms

All I can think of is that we're on borrowed time as far as lack of mosquitoes around here. Methinks early season honker hunting is going to be particularly brutal now.

    Flying with frozen meat?

I use a soft-sided cooler as a carry-on. Just store it in the overhead compartment. Froze everything solid, then wrapped in towels for extra insulation. Didn't need to add ice or ice packs. Flew all the way from Seadrift, Texas with two layovers en route to Fargo, and the very top packages of...

Gearing up for duck hunting 2018!!!

    - - - Updated - - - Picked up this little beauty on Friday. No, the toddler was already mine. Talking about the duck skiff. Super wide, stable layout boat with a spot on the transom for a motor. Came with an old bow-pound troller that I'm selling on Tuesday. Going to upgrade with a true...

Gearing up for duck hunting 2018!!!

My boys are plenty comfy in boats. We've hunted out of canoes before and they've gone on plenty of kayak rides with me. I'd rather stay home than leave my dogs behind. That's just nuts. The key is portability. I'm from Minnetucky. I know what "they" do. I'm not going to jump roosts or...

Gearing up for duck hunting 2018!!!

That looks darn nice! Only problem would be how to lug the dog along. I found an older fiberglass layout-type boat on Craigslist that looks like it might work. Price is right, too. The guy selling it won't get back to me though...

    Storms

My boss had a tree come down on his cabin on Devils Lake. Sounds like it was nasty that-away. Got a picture from a coworker's friend in northern MN with a pontoon flipped over onto a dock. That takes some pretty strong wind to do that.

    Plans for the 4th?

Not a damn thing. Probably won't even go out for fireworks. Work around the house. Get caught up so on the actual weekend I don't have to worry about work.

Gearing up for duck hunting 2018!!!

About this time every year my mind begins to shift to hunting season. Makes for a loooong summer, but whatever. I'm playing with the idea of getting some sort of portable marsh boat/kayak/canoe for duck hunting. Maybe I'd get gumptious and put a tiller trolling motor on it, but likely just a...

    Deer Lottery. Get lucky?

BUCK 2F1!!! Getting the stick-and-string, too. See if I can go 2-for-2 again like I did four years ago.

    Dead Walleye

The color didn't get me right away -- figured it came from some strange water and was just a bit lighter colored. But the fins were a dead giveaway. Dried and white long the edges? How long was that on the beach before they scooped it up? I hope the hand model lathered good and long after...

Where do you think the line is with electronics?

I'm in the "ignorance is bliss" category. I kind of like not knowing what's down there. Every time I go over a spot and see a little hump on the bottom, I do what my grandpa always did with his ancient Eagle depth finder: "Get read, Tyler! There's a fish down there." Rarely did "calling his...

    There's Never Enough

Man, lots of good observations and insights here. Sorry if I came off "whiny" as one person put it, but I often take time for reflection, and it just so happens to occur on Mondays after the weekend. Ha! Certainly wasn't looking for pity, just making sure I'm not the only schmuck dealing with...

    There's Never Enough

It's fleeting. It waits for no man. It can be on your side, or is always against you. It can be spent, and it can definitely be wasted. They say you can save it, too, but that's up for debate. Of course, I speak of time. This intangible unit of measurement is the base of everything we know. It...

    Camping

I wish the old lady liked to camp. Well, I think she does like it, but she has this "thing" against going to the bathroom in Port-A-Johns or holes in the ground. Makes it difficult to find campsites that cater to her unique needs. I'd love to take No. 1 son on a weekend trip camping and...

    Rain

We're getting some good moisture today in Fargay. Shot last night, too, but it really came down this morning. After a pretty dry start to spring, this seems to be making up for it. And my wife and I were just commenting on the lack of mosquitos...

    Barn Wood Projects

Good thought! I always hesitate with transportation. I'm not sure what policies are in place. Heck, in Minnesota you can't even travel with logs in or out of the state (last I checked) due to things like Emerald Ash Borer.

    Wire Coat Dog Shampoo

Just plain pet shampoo. Rinse, lather, repeat. Unless they've been in skunk, my wires don't stink hardly at all.
