    nothing fancy but big step up from the 400 Sportsman. As far as the aluminum plate....mounting it on the box like that it is only clear spanning the one inch hole in the box so shouldn't be an issue. I double nutted the ready rod top and bottom.

    I mounted mine on the box. I drilled the holes in carrier and bracket so I could use 3/8 inch ready rod. Seems very sturdy.

    Thanks for the reply.........that is exactly what I was hoping to do. I was thinking about drilling the holes in the carrier to 3/8" to use a beefier ready rod. One more question....did you use any kind of bushing/spacer in the holes on the box? I'm wondering if it would float around a little...

    Mine rarely goes out. I use mine in the deer blinds too. Don't want to have the noise of the igniter. Also the popping and cracking of the sunflower heaters as they heat/cool is a no go in the blind.
