    retirement, good or sucks

What kinda interest are you paying on your 2 loans? Keep in mind you are not paying income tax on your 401k contributions.

    retirement, good or sucks

Great topic. Thanks, db-2, for starting it. I think about this a lot these days. What determines when to retire? Is it all about money? Or when you hate work? Or when your not healthy enough to work? Hit a certain age? Something else or combination of the previous? I’m so confused.

Some registration changes for motorized watercraft

I took this to mean that us in staters will get nicked a little more when we renew our boat registrations so the normal sticker will be proof that we supported the new program. Out of staters get a "special" sticker to show their support.

    Ice reports?

I used to fish the mouth of the canal where it opened into 1 of the lakes. THERE WAS ALWAYS THIN ICE in these necked down areas so be careful. I had very good fishing at times though and I could be on 2 feet of ice and there would be open water 30 yards away from me. I never did fish right in...

I strive for this but doesn't always work out. I will keep trying with your encouragement!

18 or 20 volt? How many batteries do you smoke in a day?

    Let's talk drill/composite auger setups...looking for experiences

Yep. And my drill is the 18V. I know 6 inches is nothing but based on what I saw and my experience with SM bits, I don't expect there to be an issue for at least 24" of ice. When it get's thicker than that, we'll have to see what happens. A friend told me that the drill battery will get warm...

    Let's talk drill/composite auger setups...looking for experiences

I used my SM lite flight and Milwaukee drill for the first time last weekend. I also have an older SM gasser so I thought having interchangeable blades would be good for me. I looked at the SM 40V and decided on the drill for 3 reasons: much lighter, I can use the drill to turn in ice anchors...

Hey Ice, it still doesn't look like you have enabled Private Messaging so I will try this conversation thing. Never used it before so hopefully you get this message. I see in your ice report that you have been to Antelope Lake and are from Bismarck. I also live in Bismarck and have thought...

    Shock Absorbing Boat Seats

That makes total sense.....for me it would just be so my Mt Dew wouldn't spill while spot hopping. Probably not worth it. :)

    Shock Absorbing Boat Seats

Interesting thread, I thought. I'm old-ish, maybe my back would appreciate 1 of these, I thought. I got money, I thought. Went to website, $750 for a fricken pedestal! Guess I don't need one that bad.

Whopperking Jr. Had Another Great Year!

Dandies, both! I am not much of a hunter, as I have stated before, so I can only assume that young Jace isn't smiling cause he would have rather been fishing like me. :D

    Man Card

The first vehicle I drove, many years before having a license, was a 1949 chevy pickup. I'm oldish but it was considered an antique already when I started driving it. Stick on the floor. Now I am curious whatever became of that truck, will have to ask my bro.

High water creating challenges for fisheries on the Missouri River System

That sucks for the fish population on Sak. I worry in particular about the salmon.....next year's crop might already be down river. Thankfully the releases are scheduled to drop considerably starting Wednesday. Presumably the spillway will be closed within a few days.

    Need a tonneau cover

About 2 months ago I bought a cover from Bismarck Canvas which is just east of Bismarck. It cost $289 plus tax. They advertised a special on the radio, I am not sure whether that price is still available. This is my first cover so not an expert but I had a couple buddies look it over and they...
