    My kids have done both - sit in a blind and hunt a buck (thank you KDM!!!!) and put in hard work hunting public. They've learned from both. We've got memories from both. And if dad is teaching while "doing everything" then it's worthwhile. They could be sitting on the couch playing video...

    I hear what you're saying and don't disagree. The other side of the coin is that kids lives are busy and it can sometimes be hard to get meaningful one-on-one time with them. Sports, school, friends, etc. get in the way. Putting miles on with my boys, random conversations, learning together...

    Buddy's old wrestling coach shot this one this fall near Roseau. Had seen others and was hunting a specific elk, didn't even know this ol' boy was in the herd.

    I would think it depends who was where first. Did the fisherman come into an established shoot or were the duck hunters telling him to leave so they could hunt? Also depends on the state - the only Thornapple Lake I found is in Michigan.

    No offense to Grandma or Italian Grandma, but the second one you posted looks much better. I still prefer mine on the grill for some reason. Though nothing beats fresh homemade gravy for them taters
