Why don’t families get together anymore?

I getcha JuanR. I sometimes feel that way too, but they don't necessarily come to see me, so I don't feel bad if I'm busy. I don't sit in the same room and ignore them, but if I'm mowing the lawn, I keep on keepin' on.

Why don’t families get together anymore?

Amen Brother. I have very little family in ND - most are in MN. My wife however, comes from so big a family, you almost have to spray for them. they drop by all the time. I don't always have time to sit down and spend three hours with whomever drops over, but that's alright too. If I...

    The Migration is ON!

Nope. I expect the worst, so I dress accordingly. I'll be out there for a while yet. So far this fall, it hasn't been great. Saturday night was a trial. Driving rain and wicked wind from the north, and not a single fish to show for it. Good gear allows a guy to tough it out though.

Why don’t families get together anymore?

I think Reese and Vince made a movie about that. I think I nearly died laughing at it. - - - Updated - - - I agree. We have a couple of friends who own two restaurants, and they're not open on Sundays. It's not even a conversation. They simply believe Sundays are for family and rest...

One dink, and one eater, which I released.

    The Migration is ON!

Heard geese flying overhead last night while I was trying to trick walleyes. Not honkers, but never saw them. about 11:00 PM.

    weather

I'm all for a long fall, but it's been close to 90 a couple times this week, in Bismarck. I'm not normally driving a convertible in October, much less thinking about putting the top up because it's too hot.

No more messing with the clock in North Dakota

I wouldn't chase after my kids, but I'd be happy if they ended up where we end up. I could ALMOST see us in AZ in later life, and if they also lived there, I'd be happy to be close to them. I sure wouldn't follow them to some big city, I can tell you that.

No more messing with the clock in North Dakota

Yup, for one child, about $200 per week. Works out to be about $5 per hour. I sure can't stay home, for that. Worth every penny. Next year, when she goes to school, WE'LL BE RICH! Ahem, the oldest is in high school. College is around the corner. We won't be rich. But money ain't...

No more messing with the clock in North Dakota

Since this thread is off the rails entirely... We pay about $800 per month for daycare for one kid. Paid about $1100 a few years ago, when the two older ones were both in daycare. Worth every penny. My wife and I both work, and neither of our parents have been saddled with any (of OUR) kids...

    Devious lick challenge

If I got in trouble in school, especially for something related to my behavior, the LAST thing I wanted was my dad to find out. Sometimes my mom would smooth things over with him, but usually either one of them finding out, would be bad for me. Come to think of it, it was GOOD for me.

    Devious lick challenge

Juanner, how in the world did you go from choirboy to greassy biker?

    Devious lick challenge

100% true. I was at the pistol range a couple weeks ago, and bumped into one of the teachers at my daughter's Junior High. He said that this devious lick thing is idiocy, but he has seen several instances recently, where students are tearing paper towel dispensers off the wall, and posting...

    ND Vehicle Registration Renewal?

I would guess it would either be the hassle of pro-rating the registration fees, or the expense of licensing multiple vehicles all at the same time. Neither would be a huge detriment to me, as we haven't got that many toys, but I could see it.

    ND Vehicle Registration Renewal?

Having your vehicle sit, unused in your garage, for 9 months with expired tabs really isn't an excuse. How do you prove that it sat unused? Everybody has an excuse. How about the guy who doesn't register it until he gets caught, then says "oh, I never use that vehicle, but I'll pay it up now...

130-year-old shipwreck in North Dakota visible due to drought

Somewhere around Wilton boat dock, I believe.

So, about this time of year, when the fall-bite is around the corner, Royce and I share some common ground.

    Gas or Electric

My mistake Snow, you are right. I was thinking Volt. Didn't even know about the Bolt, other than the Yamaha motorcycle. Nephew currently drives a hybrid prius. But he's a single guy, no kids, etc. Doesn't need the room, doesn't need to pull anything. I must admit, the mileage sounds nice...

    Gas or Electric

I believe the Chevy is a Volt, not Bolt. Not that it matters much. I have a nephew who just put money down on an electric F-150. But he lives in a big city - charging stations everywhere, never pulls anything, and works only a couple of miles from where he lives. I think electric is neat...
