    2016 Income Tax Talk

I wish you could opt out of social security. Lord knows we're never going to see the benefit. WTF should I have to pay into something that I won't even get to use?? - - - Updated - - - Huh?? How's that math add up. Do you do your own taxes or are you working with a pro? We've had our taxes...

    Panfish presentations

I keep going back to the same thing. A Marmooska jig (orange/chartreusse is crappie crack) Paired with two or three of these: AND the key to this system is using a noodle rod or spring bobber rod.

I can only pray my Remy lasts another 10 years. Sorry for your loss, but that was a heckuva run. Memories by the tailgate load!

    So Who's Gonna Get Wet?

I read the title of this thread and thought, "With two kids and full-time jobs, NOT MY WIFE." ...Sigh...

What are your thoughts on this?

Ya know, if folks learned to shut their damn yaps again about where hot bites are, there wouldn't be an issue. Let the big lakes that can handle the pressure keep drawing the crowds. When you find that little slough with jumbos, for the love of Bill Dance KEEP IT TO YOURSELF.

    Winter Lull

This is the first winter in a LONG time that I'm ready for it to be over early. Usually I'm pretty gung ho about ice fishing so don't mind if it stretches on. But I've had such horrible luck on the ice I'm just sick of it. Give me open water, a warm summer day, and a boat.

tylershoberg here. Pix of my dogs, kids and dead critters. And some of my dogs and kids holding dead critters. It's a smorgasbord.

Pro Tip: Mint extract has the same cooling effect, however longer lasting and without the need to refrigerate.

    Online employment apps

^^^ Holy tittysprinkles, Joe...you pegged that perfectly! However, I have a trick to remember names and it's worked beautifully: 1) Always bring a notepad and write down the names of the people who are interviewing you and then 2) when asked what your greatest weakness is, say remember names...

Midlife crisis? Epiphany? Or am I insane?

Believe it or not, the work I was in wasn't paying much more than a teaching salary. And with a master's degree I'll actually be making MORE to start that what I ended with -- and that's only working 9 months out of the year. But if needed, I can always join a concrete crew or pick up some more...

Midlife crisis? Epiphany? Or am I insane?

Gratifying may be an understatement! That's awesome, BW. You're fortunate in that you worked with someone who knew where to place her angst when being offered constructive criticism. It's appalling how many people claim to be that way, but actually have the skin thickness of wet toilet paper.

Midlife crisis? Epiphany? Or am I insane?

Wow...I did not expect to get this much encouragement and insight. Seriously, this is why I love NDA. It's cathartic. I have zero expectations that this will somehow be a cakewalk...neither the road to a master's or actually teaching. I'm expecting difficulties along the way that are going to...

    Benelli Owners~

I'm with you. I hate 3.5-inch shells...see no point. Figured for a few less dollars and a bit lighter weight, but with all the features that make a Benelli go bang every time, the M2 was perfect. The only thing I wish I'd done was gotten a camo version instead of the black matte. That finish on...

Midlife crisis? Epiphany? Or am I insane?

I had no idea! Although to start, I'd like to teach kids. I figure with a decade in the "real world" hopefully I can bestow some knowledge they may not get from books.

Midlife crisis? Epiphany? Or am I insane?

Ha, you got that right. The most gratifying jobs I ever had were ones that resulted in a finished product. Where you put your sweat and effort to make something, and could stand back and see the results. Was every slab I helped pour and finish perfect? No. Some, for whatever reason, were...

Midlife crisis? Epiphany? Or am I insane?

Or a tapeworm. Seriously though...I wasn't overweight to begin with. I'd been weight training and working out 3-4 times a week for the last year. I was a comfortable and healthy 175. Today I'm 168. After breakfast. Stress is nuts.

Midlife crisis? Epiphany? Or am I insane?

I have to admit that I'm trying to talk myself up a lot, too. This HAS to be what's right for me. I can't let too many negatives fog my vision, because it's a significant investment and I can't afford to fail. That's not to say that I'm looking at everything through rose-colored glasses. I...
