    New state record bighorn

Go immediately to Sportsmans Taxidermy in East Grand Forks. Do not Pass Go, but you will spend way, way more than $200. It will most undoubtedly be worth it. You WILL receive a museum quality specimen, which, I'm sure, is what you want.

    2016 ND Deer Opener

Bucks are typically larger-bodied, too, so they fill a freezer faster. Plus, 2 1/2- to 3 1/2-year-old buck antlers are the secret recipe to my famous venison stock. (SHHHH!)

    Migration

Kind of offhand, but was watching WhiteRock Decoys FB page to see their updates. Started in ND. Hunted a bit. Said screw that and went to MB. I think that says something. I mean, they could go wherever they wanted in ND, and instead of that they hopped the border and put a smackdown on ducks...

    2016 ND Deer Opener

DITTO! Our family enjoys venison immensely. But I'm a bird hunter first and foremost. So I'll burn a weekend or two tops to fill my deer tags, but I like those hunts to go quick. Plus I don't have much PTO. So if I get a deer Friday (or maybe even one with my gun and another with my bow) that...

    2016 ND Deer Opener

Polls opened today for early voting. I'm getting it over with well ahead of Nov. 8.

    2016 ND Deer Opener

Dropping the kiddos off at daycare at 7:30 then making the trek to the deer woods. Should be in my spot no later than 10:30. Plenty of time to catch some Zzzz's pre noon hour. Buck tag burning a hole in my wallet! Bow tag, too. Hopefully two will be coming home if I play my cards right.

Well this is going to get interesting

The irony of this all is that, after the rioters are long gone, it'll still look like a bomb went off from all the crap and garbage they leave behind. If they'd never shown up, after a year of reclamation you'd never eve know a pipe was buried there.

Opinion on hunting stands on Public Land

Park it on public property where I want to hunt, and I'll crank the sucker up. Nice heated blind plus I can listen to the radio to pass the time. Good idea! :;:howdy

    Migration

Exactly. It's going to be a slow trickle until winter hits and then everything will blow through in a 24-hour period.

    Migration

Hunted Sunday. Dead sea/sky. Brought home three, which was enough for supper for me, the missus and Son No. 1. Probably hanging it up to chase deer and pheasants through the end of the year. Unless something spectacular comes along, that is.

    Panfish Ice Rod

The Thorne. Bros Tripwire will be my next purchase. Has a titanium spring tip built into the pole. I have their Noodle rod and the Panfish sweetheart and love them both, so I really don't NEED another rod. But it's on my want list...

Opinion on hunting stands on Public Land

Per ND regs: Tree stands do not preempt hunting rights in the vicinity of the tree stand. Just throwing that in the conversation. I'm not going to climb into a stand a hunt on public property, but I damn will hunt by the tree if that's where I want to be. And I'm probably not going to move just...

Opinion on hunting stands on Public Land

There has been a stand on public land where I hunt that hasn't moved in 10 years. I've never once seen someone in it, and it's locked to the tree with heavy chains and a padlock. I've never hunted it because I don't want to fall and break my neck. But I wouldn't feel bad about it, either...

Stolen Trail Camera - What to do?

Something about "g'darn common courtesy" or some such thing. I was fuming but did my best to hold my tongue. Hunting this public tract gives me anxiety every year. Never know if I'm going to get beat to my favorite hunting location, or if the deer drivers are going to start at precisely 12:05...

Fishing---Why is XXX species your favorite?

Honestly, as much as I may enjoy catching walleyes (and I really, really do) my real fishing love is chasing crappies. My grandparents on dad's side are from far NE MN, way up in the iron range. While walleyes certainly hold their appeal, it's the crappies that are king there. I'll never...
