    Nordic Track.... WATCH OUT!

I don't disagree. My point is that if you have a bike you already ride, any smart trainer and an app can provide you with a very similar experience. And you can put it in the closet when you're not using it. If I had to use wind as my resistance training I'd quit. We have hills here and...

    Nordic Track.... WATCH OUT!

A bit of a side subject, but instead of going the nordic track/Peloton route I'd get a smart trainer. If you have a bike you like to ride already, something like a Kickr Core or Garmin Tactix will do the same thing as the Peloton. Lots of apps out there, Zwift namely, but others that are...

    Its Turkey Time

This is what the start of turkey season has been in the Black Hills. Cold and 16" of new snow. Better than the 30" we got before opener last year. Birds are gobbling but sticking pretty tight to the hens. Got one decent morning of weather then the crap hit. Going to let it all settle a bit...

    Outdoor photo request

One of my favorite waterfowling days. Duck season closed a week before this hunt and before the geese came out we had thousands of ducks landing on us. Pretty incredible.

    Garden!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where is a good place to order supplies? With this funk we've got going around I'm not doing much shopping in my normal places. And looking for some different varieties too that I can't find locally. I am going back to San Marzano's this year. I make sauces and the Roma's have been OK...

No paddle fish season, & tournaments canceled April & May

Wonder if any tournaments will go "virtual". Honor system essentially, much the catch photo release game out there, but without the gathering. Lots of other sports are going to this in some form. If you could do some sort of GPS tracking with geolocation of the photos, that would make it...

    Spring snows

We don't kill enough to matter hardly anyway. I know a guy who hunted 212 area with a reputable guide and they killed 15 in two days with multiple guns. And this isn't a terrible year. They need a bust year or two or three to slow the numbers. A good hatch year I don't think with the best...

    Lawn Care - Scott's 4-Step Program

I use the cheap stuff, bag in the spring, one in the fall, and if needed in the summer. If it gets really stressed in the summer, hitting it at the right time can be tough. If you get it right it really bounces back nicely. But, I will say I almost have better results from aeration compared...

    Garden!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, they certainly get larger. Sets are easier and do really well in my conditions for whatever reason. If I do my job, I can get sets to be softball size. Not the monsters that seedlings produce, but good size.

    Garden!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, W SD is much different than up there. My grass is greening up right now. I've put in onions as early as I possibly could the last several years, snow cold whatever doesn't seem to bother them and they get a good start. From the sounds of it they'll be under a few inches of snow later in...

The GOOD things & changes you're seeing in this mess?

The getting outside & workout deal has also been a good change I agree. Lots more people out and about, even for a walk. My perspective has changed during it too. I went for a lunch gravel bike ride, short, 30 minutes. Incredible day, warm, hardly any wind. Strange for the world to be so...

The GOOD things & changes you're seeing in this mess?

I've seen and heard discussions about the good things folks are seeing or changes they are experiencing as part of the coronavirus mess. Instead of focusing all on the bad, some observations I have made that are good- -I am in the education line of work. The challenges that are being met are...

Rapid and Spearfish both now I've heard.

    Corona Virus....How Long?

I would say peak of new cases in May. Tapering down from there. Still will be hotspots like others have said. By the end of summer it will be dwindling. In SD, I don't foresee us going back to school this year. Economically, I don't think it will be "the same" even in a year. Those...

Time to buy a new pickup?

My '10 Chevy is just starting to do the same. Mine has been washed about the same and in SD with plenty of salt as well. My dad's '13 is doing it too. Just rock chips and above the rear wheels. Seems comparable to most other brands I have encountered.

Better question, is anyone killing any?

Trolling swimbaits or other soft plastics for walleyes?

Yes I'm talking more spread out fish. Big flats that you'd usually run cranks over. It would be slower and less efficient though. In shallower water, I do agree that lighter would work. Obviously as speed increases or depth, bigger would be better.

Trolling swimbaits or other soft plastics for walleyes?

I saw some stuff that the Next Bite had coming out on trolling swimbaits for walleyes. I did not see the episode though. I've read for years in In-Fisherman about swimbaits but haven't used them much. I don't do enough casting and the few times I have the results have been iffy. But trolling...
