    Times Change

Life and times were simple back then, pretty much the same scenario here. I had to google what "checked planted the corn so you could cultivate both ways" was all about. I'd seen the wire rollers at auctions and always wondered what they were used for. Thanks for helping me check that...

Lots of color in the yard today, Grosbeaks and Orioles are fighting for Jelly/oranges and suit. The Orioles must be pretty hungry if their eating suit, same with the Grosbeaks if they are eating oranges/jelly. I counted 11 Orioles eating at the same time with more in the trees. They'll...

    Cast Iron Skillet

$ 2850 isn't bad for two frying pans as long as your the seller and not the buyer. :) Ive picked up every used cast Iron pan I've walked past in the last 40 years and never found a rare one. Before that, nobody knew they were worth anything and there were so many farm auctions back then.

All I know is they send scouts ahead of the colony , usually to the same house they inhabited the year before. Did that house happen to be in your neighborhood last summer ? I'll pay more attention to thier habits this year when they arrive. The first swallow showed up here this morning.

    Any Birders here?

It's hit and miss the way it is and there are more houses going up. If I remember right, It took 3 years for my Dad to get a colony in the early 70s . Then by the 80s the evergreens had outgrew their environment and they were gone. I moved the house and I don't recall exactly but I think it...
