    This is the reason i would go k-drill in ND. I don't think the smooth shaver ion blades hold up too well on dirty ice, The k-drill is supposed to be fine in grit.

    I've just not had much luck with UV stuff. Maybe its a confidence thing, but i just seem to do better with normal glow on my buckshot spoons etc. Maybe its because the UV paint jobs look so cheesy, that i just don't have confidence with them and don't put them down the hole as much.

    Standard unit has the vex mode but like you said i dont think thats what you want to use anyways. Also as far as networking i don't think any of the 5's can be networked. I think now with the gen2 7's can be.

    The lake master chip for Hummingbird has the better contours for Sak/Oahe. I pull my Helix 7 off the boat and mount it on my ATV for the contours, I still use the ole Vex for my actual fishing though.
