    Portable Ice House- Heater Options

Curious what you guys are using for heaters in your portable ice houses? I've got an uninsulated Guide so it does take a bit more heat than many of the newer houses. I have a catalytic style heater that does OK in warmer temps. Plus side is that it's small and no open flame. But, just not...

    Bluetipz tip up alarms?

We bought some for the FIL for Christmas. They seem to work pretty well, range was only tested to about 50 yds. But, they are pretty much the same size as the Arctic Fire lights. They have a nice flashing light on them too. My only issue is my phone hates the cold so having a full battery...

    NETFLIX making a murderer

I think the real story is how tough the system can be on disadvantaged folks. Avery was a very slow individual from a very poor background. The system almost made it impossible for him to fight things. I'm not going to be a spoiler but after you watch the series do some research. There are...

    Geese

We have the late option in some areas of SD. But you can't even start hunting those areas until early November. Seems like that would be a huge gamble for you guys up there. The late hunting like others have said have no impact on the local population of geese. Hopefully this cold...

    Choosing structure

I'd fish the long point on D. Access to shallows & feeding areas. And, access to deep water. Drill that point deep to shallow and you'd find a fish.

    Deer Based Breakfast Sausage???

Can anyone give me some guidance on some deer based breakfast sausage? I have a great ring bologna type sausage that works for breakfast. It's really heavy on the garlic. I'm looking for something more sage based and perhaps a country style. I have tried a few recipes I've found online and...

Sweating like a whore in church

We had a lab get heated up once. She was wobbly and couldn't stand. It wasn't terribly warm, around 65 degrees. She was forever changed. Didn't take too much heat and work to get her wobbly again. We had to be really careful with her. She was perfect in cooler weather. One thing we...

    prop

I would not go up to the 17 pitch even if you go down to a 13" dia. prop. 1" of pitch change usually equals 150 RPM loss or gain. Losing diameter but adding pitch will work against each other. If you can find a 13" x 15p I am guessing that will be the closest.

    Tents

I would personally recommend the Cabelas Westwind tents. Less $$$ than the Alaskan Guide series but still tons of features. I have had my 4 man for several years and it's been through snow, hail, and 70 mph winds. I am extremely pleased with the tent. It's kept me dry through some big rains...

    51,000 unsuccessful

Not from what I've seen regarding state tags. Its usually the opposite, easy to spot the tribal tag hunters. Fourteen vehicles with out of state plates following one ND or SD vehicle. You certainly get some nice country from a tribal tag but not the mother lode. Lots of good deer country...

    51,000 unsuccessful

Tribal land in Corson County but not the deeded land! I thought the tribe was not selling deer tags over the counter anymore and they were hard to get?

    My DIY tackle projects

Great looking baits. I have pondered the idea of doing what you're doing but two things have held me up. First, I just don't lose that many cranks. But, most of all, I am just worried that I'll paint up a bunch of baits that don't have great action and don't catch much. How have you found...

Zebra Mussels Begin to Invade the Red River

To me it's still a big deal. Certainly some fisheries have cleaned up a bit with mussels in them. But to say that will be the case for all of them would be far from the truth. You want to get drastic? Look at the State of WY rules. Mandatory inspections of all watercraft coming into the...

Shallow Divers or Less Line Out?

I really think with the water clarity we often see in the Dakotas that short lines don't matter. We don't have to worry as much about the boat spooking as really clear waters do. I have no issue running them short and right below the boat. Less tangles too. I also wonder if the boat...

    Crestliner Transom Woes

After doing several transom replacements I would agree 100% that the cracks were caused by the weak rotted wood. It is incredible how much they flex when rotten. I have seen several that amazed me that the motor even hung on. Your situation is tough. If you tried to nail down how the water...

    Dog urine killing yard?

Believe me, it isn't that big of deal. The dog will be around long after the grass will. But thanks for being a prick about it. Thanks for the tips. I didn't know if there was something simple that could be done or not. I know several people (including my neighbor) that have their dogs...

    Dog urine killing yard?

So this winter we didn't have much snow and I had my dog and an extra one doing their usual business. My grass got totally destroyed by urine and I attributed it to the lack of snow cover and two dogs peeing in similar spots. After much work I've got all the spots reworked and growing grass...

    Building Your Own Custom Rods

http://sportsmensdirect.com/shop/rod-building/ Take a look at the blanks here. They are really nice. The other components are nice and priced well too. Another good option for ice blanks. I am building a few this summer!
