    The only thing that really matters about most Damascus blades for sale commercially is the core. The Damascus is just layer in the outside for asthetics. Assuming it’s heat-treated properly, The VG-10 core in the knives in the Amazon link should be excellent.

    I don't have an answer, but I do have 2 questions for you. 1. Does she/you use a cutting board or does she cut stuff on plates, platters, or whatever happens to be under the medium to be cut? 2. Do you/she intend to wash the knives by hand or run them in a dishwasher?

    Plain-old grease on stuff like that. Spread it on reasonably thick and it forms its own “gasket” keeping moisture and dust out. Same thing for receiver-hitch draw-bars. Really no more mess than spray-lubes but it lasts longer and protects better IMO/IME.

    You get a special exception for actually NEEDING the heat. ;:;rofl AC is an oft-overlooked but very necessary function within a shop IMO, especially for keeping humidity down. Steel things are less prone to rust. Powder and primers keep indefinitely in a climate controlled environment.

    The Astro was essentially an AWD S-10 with a van body. Dad's 1st mini-van was an AWD Astro. Tranny didn't make 65K and it never towed a single thing.
