    Buying a new gun..Dilemma

Yep, it’s not about the brass case or stamp upon its head. It’s about melding the rifle and ammo/components.

    Buying a new gun..Dilemma

I have a 24" barreled 1:8 22-250 and I'm just under 3300fps w/75's. 22CreedMoor looks to add a couple hundred FPS. If one is buying new and doesn't have a platform or components they like already, no reason NOT to go 22CreedMoor. Buying off the shelf the 22CreedMoor will give you the...

Hundreds of Yellowstone bison to be culled this winter

The solid style bullet would pop a hole in the skull almost as precisely round as a drill-bit. I think a buffalo skull with a hole looks fantastic.

    DIY European Mount

Get as much "stuff" off/out as you can before you boil. ~2hrs rolling boil, no longer. Put a little dish-soap in the boiling water as well to help degrease the skull. - - - Updated - - - Looks like that deer has a "push dagger" on his right antler bur. Cool!

    Buying a new gun..Dilemma

Barrett makes their own barrels. The bulk of the weight savings of a Barrett vs. a 700 will come from the ability to use a bbl of significantly less external diameter. Even you use a "pencil bbl" on the order of a Rem mountain rifle taper, it's still going to have a much heavier shank to mate...

    Buying a new gun..Dilemma

Barrett can be had for $1500-$1600. You'll get: 1. Chamber and mag-box confines properly mated 2. Most chamberings offering twist rates that allow one to use the "latest and greatest" high BC bullets with enough RPM that the next round of high-BC R&D will be useable as well. 3. An excellent...

    SWFA Scopes

Short answer, yes, I’m a fan of parallax adjustments. Longer answer, some scopes seem to present more parallax than others do despite being the same power. I’ve never really cared for any Nikon, Burris, or B&L/Bushnell Elite 3-9’s because IMO they all had too much discernible parallax. I’ve...

If ordering a Barrett FieldCraft, Wittakers out of KY is quite competitively pricing them.........

It was subjective. I didn't measure it, just noticed it often and didn't like it.

If it wasn't for the .270Win I'd shoot stuff with other things.

Walleye cheeks could be OFF the menu.....

Being 'Sconi is probable cause for G&F violations so no issue w/4th. The cleaning station supervisor should be issued a yard-stick with which to "educate". You get the stick for: 1. Pushing more than 1 fish at a time into the grinder, 1 yard-stick finger-slap for every carcass over 1. 2...

Friend has a fixed 6x and a 10x. Both are very nice and track well. He had a 3-9 for a short while as well. I shot with the 3-9 for one range session and didn't like it, IMO it had too much parallax.

#270forlife!!!! My 1:8 twist 270Win using R-26 will push a 150gn ABLR @ 3050fps from a 22” bbl. Put that in your PRC and smoke it.

    Buying a new gun..Dilemma

Better hunter, no. Better shooter? Maybe. Lots of excellent factory ammo and doesn’t kick the snot out of the shooter. Again, the CreedMoor success is execution and support in all phases of production.

    Buying a new gun..Dilemma

Creedmoor's success is a case-study in the proper integration of R&D, engineering, and marketing. The ammo fits within the rifle's confines (mag and chamber). The rifle has been designed to optimize current and future ammunition/components. The ammo companies produced ammo for hunters AND for...
