Hey you older Lake Audubon fans...

LOL. I thought the 1971 report was a fun read. Especially the anecdotes on the violations, etc. Fined $100 for missing a swan because the judge didn't want to reward the guy for being a lousy shot. Hah hah hah... Also, I didn't realize leafy spurge was that much of a problem in the early...

Shitty beer and premature ejaculation. - - - Updated - - - p.s. I now know just as many guys that drink White Claws as I do PBR. WTF? On both counts.

    Memory foam mattress nightmare

After spending four in the Corps, I am pretty sure I've fallen asleep standing up, or at least propped up. And on some really shitty mattresses in a handful of different countries. As far as heat buildup, my only suggestion is to find a good sobakawa (buckwheat) pillow. I had one for years...

    Lake Ice...Thin to Thick

Back when I lived in GF there were a number of cold, cold winters. Like that of 96-97. When out in the middle of the lake by Hay Bale Bay or Black Tiger, you'd barely get through with a single extension on my old Jiffy. BUT, if you nestled up next to the trees for the evening bite you could...

    Shingle~

Hmmm, I never had Chicken Pox as a kid. So I got the varicella vaccine when I first heard about it in the mid-90s. I wonder if I'm still capable of getting shingles, or if I need to get the vaccine. I suppose that should be a point of discussion between the doc and I when I get my annual checkup.

Hah, just noted where BigV is located. I tend to forget that you aren't our only SD representative on here.

    muzzleloader

Kurtr, Yeah, no shooting mule deer bucks up here with a ML, unless you are willing to use it as your weapon of choice during rifle season. I still really like the primitive stuff, especially using black powder. I get a kick out of the sparks, flame, and smoke.

    muzzleloader

Before any actual advice is given, we should probably know what your expectations are for the ML. Do you want to shoot deer at 300 yds, or are you in this for the challenge of shooting a deer with a primitive weapon? By primitive I am talking about round ball, cotton patch, blackpowder. I...

    Quagga Eradication

Same thought here. Sounds like something that works well in a limited environment, but maybe not so great on a large scale.

Leash law applys to Cats to

Stray cats and dogs, or piss poor ownership of pets will really bring out the worst in people. I've been there as well. A fucking lab used to come up and piss in my dog's face on the outside of the chainlink fence he knew he wasn't allowed to jump. That was a dog that needed shooting. Had a...

What do I need to know about bring my boat to MN ?

Yeah, that's kind of the negative side of our biggest and best lakes (Sak and Oahe) being USACE projects. Not very much private shoreline on either of them to build waterfront rentals. The two that come to mind right away that have cabins are Indian Hills and Dakota Waters Resort. Neither of...

    Must have Pontoon accessories

The above is excellent, all the way around. The only thing I'd say though is that I use an 80 lb Minnkota on my 22 ft Tritoon. It's OK, so long as the wind isn't above 10 mph, then it's time to drift with the wind using the trolling motor to simply maintain course.

    ECKROTH Bottoms. Questions..??

Yeah, not much has changed at Hazelton proper. There's still the deep community hole starting at the ramp and going south. There are a couple sandbars right out from the ramp that produce fish in the non-25 ft of water range, and the east shoreline north of the ramp is still the same as it has...

    Must have Pontoon accessories

Also, if you can avoid carpet, you will be a much happier Toon owner. Not sure why they do it, but they tend to put woven carpet on the Toons. If you put a hook in it, you stand a really good chance of unraveling some of your carpet. Dumbest effing thing ever!

    Must have Pontoon accessories

Go with a minimum of 150 hp. That way you will be able to pull tubes as well, and the longer commutes (Beaver to Winona, etc) won't be excessive time consumers. I have a 150 on a Southbay tritoon and with a top speed of around 32 mph, it gets to be a long haul when needing to go 10 miles, or so.

    Upland bird vest?

So I am curious as to what you all like as far as upland bird vests? I'm thinking of getting my son his own for Christmas, but have no idea what's currently the better vests out there. I have a bunch of older vests that each have their downside. So what do you guys wear, and why did you...
