Zebra Mussels found in Lake Lamoure

Erie was one of the most contaminated bodies of water out there due to industrial pollution. PCBs and many other things had the fishery in a hole during the second half of the 20th century. Do we have those problems here in ND to where they will provide a similar benefit?

Zebra Mussels found in Lake Lamoure

If they are in Lake LaMoure, that means they are in the James River. Once in the James, they now have a clear path to about half of the Missouri River.

    Northern fillets

Did they come from two different bodies of water? If they came out of the same lake, they should be similar. If not, I'd probably chuck the jelly-like one at a sea gull.

    Sauger Spawn

Right, that is why there is such a thing as a saugeye, There are fish every year that do not lay their eggs as Mother Nature designed them to do. They eventually just absorb them. Some do it because of injury, others???

Why come to ND when there’s lake of the woods

Right there is the answer. I've not eaten one in many years, but early spring (cold water) bullheads are quite edible. As are catfish. From warm water, ehh...not so much.

Why come to ND when there’s lake of the woods

Why come to ND when there’s lake of the woods

Right, but there are a great number of lakes in ND that have trillions of eggs laid in them that have, for all intents and purposes, as close to zero reproductive success as is possible. They are maintained by stocking alone. Shutting down the spring fishing during the spawning season on those...

Hey Tom, Hows the weather ?

I was 4 miles NW of New Town on Monday. We got plenty of rain, wind, lightning, and damage at the parents' place. It sucked, even with the much needed rain. Depending on the rain gage we looked at, something between 4 and 6 inches of rain. Tough to measure rain when there's 80+ MPH winds...

Why come to ND when there’s lake of the woods

Probably not as much as its advertised. 0.0001 survival rate to adulthood vs. 0.00001 is lost on the majority. And the difference between the two is more likely habitat than it is harvest. That's why we see "year class" of different species that fill the fishing demand. Missing year classes...

    North Dakota Fishing

I, not so vaguely, remember the article SDMF alludes to. I was actually surprised by the number of infractions as I had friends up from NC the same year and while they didn't get checked, they would have been safe from being ticketed as we followed the rules.

What's going on with these leaves on one of my plum trees? - - - Updated - - - Those are not bugs, but may be cocoons or something else that harbors a bug. First time I've seen something like this at my place.
