I've been asked about painting jigs so I thought I'd put together how I color mine as my daughter (the hand model) and I have been having a BLAST painting jigs the last few days......
Here are the pieces and parts I use. I use a chip bag clip to hold the jig as using a pliers tends to have...
Pairs and quads on the Sheyenne last week already. Water's flowing OVER the ice as of two days ago. I'm not ready to cry spring yet, but with very little snow, these warm temps, and the flowing water has me wondering.
The producer that rents my tillable land couldn't get in to plant anything this past year so he planted a cover crop of turnips, barley, and some kind of long radish that I forget the name for. Anyway, the deer have been tearing that place up all winter. He baled the barley and turnip tops...
Standing soybeans are stupid attractive to deer after bean harvest. If you can get a standing bean food plot to last until late season, you have a better than average chance at whacking a real good buck. JMHO, but if I were to plant a food plot, that's what I would put in.
Pheasant feathers are NOT like duck feathers, they will get TOTALLY SOAKED. If the temps stay above freezing until the birds can dry off they will be fine. If the temps drop below freezing......well let's just say that's NOT GOOD!!! We used to raise between 3K and 5K pheasants a year and rain...
That's why I'm an Internet Tough Guy. A Keyboard Ranger. A Monitor Master. I can sit in a dark closet and type my mind without threat of repercussions from Boat Bullies and other Computer Meanies!! So here's some more....
Shore fishing is better than boat fishing!!
True fishermen use their...
While I thoroughly enjoy having a boat at my disposal at a moments notice, I find myself preferentially using my feet to find great fishing the majority of the time. I find being a LBF (land based fisherman) has distinct advantages. I rarely have to sit on shore due to wind, insurance on a...
Well if a sharp shinned hawk is the size of a blue jay, then this must be a coopers as this one is twice the size of a blue jay. Sorry I didn't get any more pics. He boogied right after I took the pics and grabbed some fast food on his way out.
If they are smaller than this one, Yep!! We have about 4 of these hunters cruising the area. The littlest one took after a Hairy woodpecker once and it was quite a battle. I think both combatants limped away from the encounter so I would call it a draw. The one pictured just connected on a...
Yep!! PrairieGhost Wins!! Sounds like the consensus is Sharp shinned. Thanks Guys!!! That thing has whacked about a dozen sparrows that we know of so far this year. They sure are sparrow killing machines wildeyes.
This guy's been chasing, and catching, the sparrows and other tweety birds around the house all winter and this is the first good chance to get a pic of him/her. Anybody know what kind?? Thanks!!
I'm going to give this pork thing a try this year. I'm guessing the juice it's packed in will turn me off of these things, but if they will stay on the hook better while resisting the shredding machines of pike, it just might be worth it.
Without knowing what kind of boat you have and assuming the snaps on the windshield are used for the same thing ours are, we had this whole enclosure made at TRS Industries in Fargo. There are side curtains, bow cover, walkway screen that goes between the consoles, and back enclosure that...
tikka243, I use the 4 1/2 inch saltwater assassins or walleye assassins all summer long for walleyes in the Sheyenne and the couple of times I hit DL with a friend. They are a dynamite bait. I normally don't get the pre rigged kind as one northern pike will shred the tail and then I have to...
Big water trolling for salmonids or ocean vessel where sun protection is needed....OK. Here, I believe you would find more check marks on the negative side than on the positive side for having a cab. However, I've not heard much about Hewes being a poorly made boat or other negatives about the...
3" mag #2 lead or lead BB is coyote poison. I like to use my scatter gun while my partners use rifles when we call predators. #2 lead is also not a bad load for late season roosters when they jump at 40 yrds.
