    I did this with perch one time(just used heavy fishing line) to keep them in good shape because I didn't want to clean them until morning(sleeping in permanent house). In the morning they were gone. Something ripped them off over night(assume it was a northern). Weird deal.

    I use a swivel as well. I am mostly German and was able to teach myself to stop reeling before the swivel hits.

    I imagine it is like choosing between the very hot, skinny chick that is super fun but never makes you comfortable by cooking and cleaning VS. the one that is a bit fluffy, but makes you feel like a king. Always trade offs in life my friend.

    I have a pair of Baffin Apex I have used a couple times now. They are a very bulky boot, but are stupid warm. I can still drive with them, but it requires some adjustment.

    Salmon eggs or Berkely trout dough formed in a ball around the hook is what I would try. That and the lively minnow mentioned above.
