    Probably because like others on here have said, you can attach a hand auger bit for $40 and they are faster than kdrill. I mean even the k drill 12” extension is $60?? The stuff works but it is overpriced for sure.

    Its all a complete crapshoot, Its fine if there are no storms or high wind. I think I've driven every possible way to Whitefish trying to avoid bad roads, just pay attention to the MDT map. HWY 2 is the quickest way to Whitefish if the roads are good.

    I've heard more problems with jiffy propane than any other auger by far, there is also always a lot of "like new barely used" ones for sale on Bisman.

    I did the same, super easy and very handy modification. I do wish the Otter case was a bit deeper because you do have to fully fold down the reel handles. The case is bombproof though.

    I personally like "walk the dog" type top water because they tend to cast a mile and you can work a lot of water, but poppers, prop baits, and soft frog type baits have their place. For me pretty much the whole point of smallmouth fishing is catching them on top water. Nothing like big smallies...
