Which is why most trout and bass anglers catch and release.

    Cheap fishin

Could also argue that fly fishing can be the cheapest. A 5wt rod and a pair of waders can get you effectively fishing a lot of world class trout streams. I'm going on a week long trip to ID in June and i wont even spend $500, most of that will be gas money.

lost a hunting buddy and sidekick this week

I feel your pain. I had to unexpectedly put down my 11 year old springer 2 weeks ago. He had been a little weird the last two months and I had taken him in and they couldn't really find anything. I woke up sat morn two weeks ago and he was just laying there drooling and didn't really want to...

    River Water Clarity

I think everyone is used to the past 5 years of no snow and no runoff, As soon the river opened it was clear and fish-able. Is it still completely muddy? i haven't looked in a few days.

    Spinners

Color definitely matters when pulling spinners. We pull spinners almost exclusively during mid-late summer on Sak. We usually start out the day with about 3 completely different colors and almost always one person will catch about 3-4 fish to everybody else's 1, so we all end up switching to...

    electronics question

I don't think you can network any of the Helix 5's, I think the new Gen2 7 can be networked though. Also in your trolling motor transducer i don't think that can be SI/DI, just normal sonar and gps. Id personally also skip the 5 and just go two 7's, I just put a 7di on my boat and wouldn't want...

    Ram mount for trolling motor

Id skip the ram mount and just use a small bungee cord to put some down tension on the shaft to prevent violent bouncing. Its cheap and it works. I'm not a fan of the "rigid mount" that a ram creates on the trolling motor head.

1000's Of Salmon To Be Released Into Sakakawea

I think the ladders were back in some of the bays like Scoria

1000's Of Salmon To Be Released Into Sakakawea

I can't imagine they would do well on Devils, they struggle on Sak when it gets lower and they still have 100'+ water then. I think it really comes down to the forage. High water = good smelt population = healthy salmon population

    3M clear vehicle protective wrap

    3M clear vehicle protective wrap

I called today and got a quick estimate. Basically about a grand to do front of truck and rocker panels. Not sure it makes it any easier to clean bugs off, but maybe. It's certainly not something your just gonna peal off at the end of summer.

    3M clear vehicle protective wrap

Has anybody put the 3M clear protective stuff on any of your vehicles? I was thinking of getting my front bumper and lower sides of my truck wrapped to protect from rock chips. It seems that the newer paint these days sucks(thanks Obama/EPA). Anywhere in Bismarck you would recommend?

River around and south of Bismarck?

So did anybody catch anything this weekend or is it still to dirty? I spent the weekend mounting a new humminbird and getting the boat ready. Hope to be out this coming weekend. PS: Straight pipes are gay no matter what brand you throw them on.

Bismarck Motel with secure area for boats?

The only thing i can say is that the south side of town tends to have more theft than the north side. Having said that crap can happen everywhere. Maybe try something tucked away like Staybridge Suites. I still wouldn't leave electronics or rods/tackle that isn't in a locked compartment even in...

    tip up line

I much prefer the vinyl/pvc coated tip up lines by HT, Cortland etc.. The coated stuff doesn't freeze or tangle like the normal braided line, way easier to deal with when your out on the ice freezing your fingers.

    Buying vs. Leasing

Best time to buy new is when the new models hit the dealers lots and they need to get rid of last years models. A year ago I bought a 2015 GMC Sierra SLE double cab Z71. MSRP was $45,000, paid $32,000 after rebates/incentives. I plan to drive it until the wheels fall off, 15 years or so...

    Buying vs. Leasing

And in those years of no payments, keep stashing cash so when you do need a new vehicle you can pay cash and really never have another payment. Turn the tables around and pay for the car before you buy it rather than after.
