suggestions for a 243 coyote load

It's hard to beat H-4350 for the 243. I shoot 87gr vmax loaded pretty hot at 44.0 grains. I get damn near 3100 fps out of my 20 in AR-10. They don't do the tail-spin dance when you hit them with that. Just straight down.

    sales tax

Hey man, that Monster burger is a gift from god. And the more of them you eat, the sooner you get to go meet him.

    Montana Big Game Combo Tags

Does anyone else feel like some of these states try to nickel and dime you in every way they can get away with? Tag + bonus point + archery permit + habitat fee + air consumption fee + 7% tax per toe on your right foot, etc. They be like: Here's a tag application for $1000+, but hey if that's...

    Range finder help..

I called Sig and am going to send my Kilo 2000 in for them to look at it. On a recent coyote hunt, my brother was consistently out-ranging me with a Bushnell Legend 1000. Embarrassing...

    Do-it-yourselfers strike again

Previous owner was some type of contractor and "finished" some parts of the basement himself. I wish he wouldn't have. I ended up tearing most of it out. It literally looked like he was using leftovers from other jobs. For example, there was one bathroom and two bedroom doors hung. They were...

    Range finder help..

Did some testing with my Sig Kilo 2000 yesterday. These were the furthest distances I could range. Stop sign (highly reflective): 1760 yds -- probably further too. I started at the mile section. White barn: 938 Gray steel barn (right next to the white one): 850 Trees (tried several groups)...

    Used boat shopping.....

;:;boohoo Head East young man, haven't you been told? Minnesota is full of boats that'r easy on your billfold. ;:;boohoo -- admittedly a stretch, but I tried... Seriously though, as much as it sucks to drive to the cities, there are a lot more boats available in that area, and many of...

Gander Mountain prepares to file bankruptcy

I think Bed Wetter nailed it. I'm guessing their ammo boxes are filled with heroin. That would be a pretty safe place to hide it considering their prices.

    Bitcoin

Yikes. Not having a backup (or several) is a cardinal sin of computing, but the above story really illustrates the "imaginary" factor of bitcoin. I'll keep my money in more tangible investments, thank you. My stash of Beanie Babies is due for a comeback.

    Scope

6x on the low side is a bit much when coyotes sneak into your set or a buck jumps out of some brush. I'd second 2400 on the Leupy VX3. Got one on my 556 and love it.

    Range finder help..

Yeah, mine sucked big time when it was -20. Seemed like the battery indicator went down one bar each time I used it. I couldn't even range a giant windmill base that couldn't have been more than 8-900 yards.

    Range finder help..

Maybe I got a 'bad' one, but I'm not impressed with my Sig 2000. I've only ever used it over snow, but the best I can get on any target is just over 600 yards. Now that the snow is gone, I'm going to do some further testing. I may end up sending it in since others seem to be getting much...

Making the Switch to Copper Bullets

Switched to copper for all my edible game -- possibly for no good reason -- who knows... FWIW: 150 TTSX via 7mm REM mag anchored an elk at 325 yards last fall.

    Remington 700 problem

Thanks guys. I'm going to send it in and see what happens. I am afraid they may just ream the chamber a bit more and not fix the excessive headspace issue, so the cases may not stick anymore, but it still won't shoot worth a shit. And now I got a hard-on for a Bartlein barrel...

Predator Calls- Electronic and other questions

It's possible that has great sound quality, but the remote looks like a POS. I like how their slogan is a "light year ahead" but their products and website looks like they were built in 1994.

Predator Calls- Electronic and other questions

The open reed ones, not as much, but it can happen on really cold days. Just have more than one. Coyotes usually don't mind if you switch sounds as they're on their way in (within reason). For that matter, temps below zero will zap regular alkaline batteries pretty quickly. You need to run...

Predator Calls- Electronic and other questions

Electronic: Most guys will say FoxPro <something>, but I like my Primos Alpha Dog. It's not the loudest one out there, but it's well designed and well priced. Mouth Calls: Anything that says Randy Anderson on it. But knowing how and when to use them is more important than the call itself...

    Remington 700 problem

To me... and I know close to jack shit about reaming chambers... the chamber may be a bit too small, but also too long. Yes, the 7mm Rem Mag is supposed to headspace off the belt the first shot, but after that, you should be able to headspace off the shoulder. Since this gun allows the...
