    Leica 1600-B problems

Are you holding it in your hand when ranging at that distance, or do you have it on a tripod or something? My Nikon is supposed to go to 1200, but I've never been able to range anything (buildings, hills, etc) past 5-600.

    Leica 1600-B problems

I can't take the suspense. Was it meters or not? Come on, we've all been there, you can admit it...

Bought the bride a new hunting rifle

Kills em nice and dead. It's actually not bad on fur most times. More recently I shoot the 87 vmax 'cause ballistics are closer to the 95 SST I shoot for deer.

    One Rod, Double Walleye

Also, this has happened more than once when throwing a popper. That's two bass, one on each treble hook.

    One Rod, Double Walleye

I saw something like this fishing smallies this year. The water was clear and calm enough that you could see them. Most of them were cruising, so not that interested in biting, but if you got one to bite, all you had to do is reel him close to the boat and let him swim around on the end of...

Bought the bride a new hunting rifle

Not really. You could probably get a steel one for close to that, but the weight would suck. You'd probably wouldn't like to hunt with it, so what's the point? If some laws were changed and made it as easy to acquire as a gun, a lot more people would buy them and the price would come down...

    Coot! crows of the swamp~

When duck hunting was slow, it was always fun to lay waste to those ugly-ass duck wannabes. In a related note, why are black jacks (cormorants) protected? I hate those stupid things, especially when you're peaking out from your blind and they look just enough like geese coming in to get you...

Bought the bride a new hunting rifle

Varminter 3.0 runs about $925.00 for the 30 cal http://www.dakotasilencer.com/the-varminter-3-0-mack-brothers/ Add another $200 for the ATF stamp (tax). To thread your barrel add about another $100. It's not cheap, but IMO the worst part is the 6+ month wait between buying and having it in-hand...

Bought the bride a new hunting rifle

Ha, I missed that. Those copper bullets are so good they gain weight on impact.

Bought the bride a new hunting rifle

Long Term: you should really consider getting a suppressor. Cuts the noise and the recoil. Get the 30-cal can so it can go on her 243 and your 270. Do the gun trust thing with both of you on it and then either can shoot it on either gun. Only problem is once you get one, you'll want two.... I...

    Arrow Hypothetical

A headshot or spine is the only way you're dropping a deer right there with a bow. IMO neither are 'ethical' shots to take on purpose regardless of skill / practice. Have you considered a big live trap -- like they use on feral pigs? Then you can sling arrows at it all day and it won't run...

    Savage or Tikka?

I shot it a few days ago. Only 6 rounds so far, not enough to know anything. I couldn't go on until I fixed the stock. My problem with the pressure on the barrel is that it's inconsistent. It can be different if I'm holding it, on bags, or on a bipod. Anyway, yesterday I fixed it. Wrapping...

It might happen more often if more than 25% of your posts made sense within the context of the English language. ;)

Barrel threading in the FM area?

Yes, you do. It'll make that 6.5 Creed recoil like a 223 and sound like a 22mag.

Barrel threading in the FM area?

Nice. Yep, shooting suppressed the last several years has pussified me a bit in terms of noise and recoil. Yeah, I can sleep right on the rocky ground, but my little air mattress makes it much more enjoyable. - - - Updated - - - Thanks Wags. I think I'll check out L&M in Verona. That's not...

    Savage or Tikka?

Yep, you'd have to zoom on that picture somehow, but they are the 150s. I'm not expecting great long distance grouping since all the tips appear to be formed slightly differently, but I'm sure they kill stuff. First I need to work on this stock a bit so that the barrel actually floats...

Barrel threading in the FM area?

I need to get my new Rem 700 cut for a suppressor. Need to cut the noise and recoil on this 7mm as soon as possible. I've only had to thread one barrel in the past and sent it to a gunsmith in Pierre SD. Can anyone recommend a smith in the Fargo or surrounding area that won't want to keep my...

    new 22-250 round

Whats the twist you got on that Howa? That could limit your options on the heavier bullets. I can vouch for the 45 grain Winchesters that dukgnfsn posted. They'll kill yotes nice and dead. Usually just a smallish entrance hole and no exit, and they always grouped well for me. They are also...

    Savage or Tikka?

For you svnmag: I haven't got a chance to shoot them yet. I probably will this weekend. Hopefully I'll have my ELD-X from Midway by then so I can cook up some good loads.
