    Current Satalite Photos

Rowdie, In looking at Google Maps (the online version), it would seem that the satellite imagery is about as up to date as you may find in the public domain. Taking a look at the Hazelton boat ramp area it would seem to be every bit as recent as it's copyright time stamp of 2022.

    2022 deer tags

Well, this has been every bit as much fun to read as I anticipated. After not getting a buck tag last year for the first time since 1995(?), both the son and I drew Any Antlered tags.

    Bitcoin

What protections do crypto exchanges/holding institutions have for the average Joe when it comes to the modern day bankrobbers? I'm talking something equivalent to the FDIC which would reimburse someone like me if my local bank were to be robbed and then go bankrupt because they couldn't pay...

Heh heh heh, that's my second favorite thread at the old homestead.

Fishing Friends and New Places to See

There's always Goose Lake down by Harvey, especially since you are kind of local.

Is our food source in jeopardy?

I will be the first to state that I would NOT be OK with Sinopec or Rosneft or Gazprom being allowed to explore for natural resources in the U.S. I think that's quite different than either U.S. owned independents, or large publicly held firms exploring for oil and gas in this country. Note...

Is our food source in jeopardy?

Yes, I still support the idea of capitalism in all but when the nation's security is at risk. You can't gore another's ox and think yours won't also be offered up as tribute to the masses when the time comes.

    HEAT

While all in one day may not be the bestest of ideas, they are making hay while the sun shines and then some around here. A fella cut, baled, and hauled the hayfield down the road from me on consecutive days. I'm not sure I'd have done it so quick, but it's his call. Actually, they were even...

    Bitcoin

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but aren't the transactions for bitcoin handled by the miners of bitcoin? And then more importantly, doesn't bitcoin have a maximum number of coins that can ever be mined already built into the code? My point being, at some point in time (and maybe we are...

    High Grass

Saw a guy cutting hay today. Seems a little early, but as wet as it's been...maybe he's thinking he will get a second cutting from native grasses? :;:huh

    Water headed for Sakakawea?

Seven feet would be nice, and it might make it. But the rivers out west are falling faster than the original forecasts, which those water levels in Sak would have been based on. It's been just as nice to see a lot of the prairie streams getting lively as of late instead of their normal...

    Pike Bite

It's been a long time since I've erred while unhooking a pike, but sure do remember what it's like! I carry one of these spring loaded jaw spreaders for the bigger gals.

Trinity River alligator gar trip 2022

Pretty sweet trip. My cousin and I were talking about doing a gar trip down south. Sure looks like you nailed it in timing and location. How long was the average fight for a 4+ ft gar? 10-15 minutes?

    Water headed for Sakakawea?

Right! It's an awfully over-used expression. I'm not sure how far back rain gage data goes in that area, but I'm guessing it's maybe 125 years, or so. Roughly equal to the length of record we have for some of the longest operated stations in ND. Tis but a blink of an eye, geologically...

    Water headed for Sakakawea?

LOL, you must have missed the part of where this is primarily a rain caused flood. I believe Yellowstone Park officials referred to the rains as "unprecedented". Nonetheless, heavy snowpack across the mountainous headwaters area for the Yellowstone River have historically caused the Missouri...

    Car insurance and STD

While the silliness of this all started with some policy/rider that none of us have read, I don't think anyone here really would like a judge to rule against a contractual obligation simply because it was poorly worded enough to make this even a possibility. We all hear about activist judges...

Is it immoral to drive an electric vehicle?

I am not a particular fan of electric cars but while recently searching for a suitable kid vehicle, several older hybrid Toyotas came up pretty commonly. The vehicles all had 150-200k miles on them with what I think was the original battery. Which caused me to do a little reading on battery...

    Car insurance and STD

Sounds like one of those "the more you know" kind of deals. Nonetheless, at face value this is an enormous "WTF kind of country do we have right now" statement on America. An insurance policy for your car that covers the transmission of an STD in said car blows one's mind with the whole...

    Water headed for Sakakawea?

Indeed, there is some water in the system and that is a good thing. The bad thing is that this looks like it will be a fairly short event. In the past it was common to see the Missouri River near Williston above flood stage for weeks at a time. Here's the forecast for the Yellowstone at...
