    Fish recycling!

I think he's looking for a liquid fertilizer for ease of application. One thing I will note is that this spring it was really, and I mean REALLY, easy to tell where the two dead deer in my ditch composted above the ground. Two big ol' patches of tall, thick, greener than green grass really...

    Fish recycling!

Couple hundred gallons a week. That commercial fishery is no longer in operation, but I do know there have been a couple commercial licenses issued over the years to other entities. I think they targeted buffalo out of Jamestown.

    Fish recycling!

When I worked at a commercial fishing operation, we would have gut barrels kept in the freezer. Once a week, or so, we'd have to haul them out to the dump ground and dispose of them in a pit they dug just for us. As the summer wore on, there was no amount of lime or sprinkling of dirt on that...

    Who’s ready for trapping?

Interesting, I guess I've been out of the trapping loop long enough to where I'd just never heard of waxing the dirt. Sounds like a nifty little trick to defeat the early freeze/thaw conditions in Nov.

    Shoreland'r Factory Bearings

While I too am a big fan of Timken bearings, so long as you monitor the play and keep the chinese bearings lubed, I see no reason to just swap them out. It's not like they explosively fail. Wait and do it at your leisure during a routine repacking and seal replacement.

    Lower Unit leaking oil

You indeed have a seal problem. Depending on how confident you are about knowing how long its been leaking is the key to whether you can fish this weekend. Like anything else, check the level of oil in the lower unit, top it off, and fish this weekend. At least, that's what I would do...

Is it legal to post a ditch along public highway?

A sandy beach is almost always below the OHWM, but in places where there aren't really sandy shorelines, you should still be able to see a clear difference between the vegetation above the OHWM and that below it. Interestingly, there was a move afoot in the legislature a couple sessions ago to...

    Popped my cherry last night

Yep, just once though and it was my ex's mutt that did it to me when he hit my fishing pole as I was unhooking a walleye from a crankbait. Nothing like having a dog banging into the rod, a walleye sharing a hook on a crank that is now embedded in your right hand's middle finger. I had to be...

    Sakakawea Tagged Walleye Reports

Damn, that's a big male! I bet 99% of the C&R people would have patted themselves on the back for releasing a large female. And before I get too damn judgmental, I kept a livewell full of "males" this spring, all about 14-16 inches. Only to find out about 80% were actually females once I put...

    Ticks are Out...already

They are still out at my place, just not in the same numbers as I find them in April. I picked a couple up last night while spraying weeds.

    shorefishing cats close to bismarck

I wouldn't shorefish the Hook looking for catfish, I'd put the boat on the trailer and run over to Little Knife Bay. That should put some catfish on your pages. There are some good ones over there, just put a smelt or frog out on the bottom with a large bobber. I've caught an awful lot of...

Is it legal to post a ditch along public highway?

I have never seen that section of the CFR before, and think it's interesting as hell as to how it's worded. Basically, as you put it, go treat it as a navigable stream and when you get the ticket...try and convince the court to convert it over to a navigable stream. I think you're being too...

Is it legal to post a ditch along public highway?

What I asked: I was wondering if you could answer a legal question for me about fishing a non-navigable stream in ND. Can a person legally fish from the roadway, or within the county right-of-way a body of water that is considered a non-navigable stream in North Dakota. A couple that come to...

    Fined for shed hunting

Based on the $20.78 for an approximately 7.5 length of antler, he's getting a hell of a lot more than $15 a pound.
