    Hello from Carl

There are always pockets of good habitat that will hold a great trip's worth of birds. The trouble with that is 1. Finding that pocket, 2. Figuring out how to get access to it, not like there won't be a long list of landowner's friends and relatives ahead of you.

    Lund vs nitro

Yeah, I think we are all susceptible to brand preferences based on a few bad experiences. Take me for example, I've never owned a Dodge and yet because I have had friends who did and I've had to drive some for work over the years, no auto manufacturer is responsible for more miles on my boots...

    Lund vs nitro

Last year they had Honda and ???? motor options on the Build a Lund section of Lund's webpage. I see they have now replaced it with a "no motor" option, which means you can order the boat and have a dealer put a motor on it. I'm guessing there's a bit of a premium involved with going this...

    Flood waters

Yeah, with Sak up in its Exclusive Flood Control Zone, the Missouri near Williston is really easy to push above flood stage. It sure looks like the Yellowstone is in a freefall out by Billings over the coming days, so that will help a bit, but the real problem is Sak. Sak is at 1851 now and...

    Spun hub repair?

I'm hazarding a guess this is not for a universal prop with a motor specific hub insert. Rather, it's probably for a specific to one manufacturer prop with a rubber hub. Personally, I've never spun one either but I believe they have to be pressed into place.

Zebra Mussels Discovered in Lake Ashtabula

Not quite. Rather, someone (this was about 12 years ago) placed a mason jar of water on the steps of some MT DNR or USFWS office step with a cryptic note. In testing the jar it was found to have zebra mussel veligers in it. Nobody then knew if it was intended to be some kind of eco terrorism...

    Sheepshead fish.

Yeah, I've been guilty of that. A number of years ago I ran into a group not from around here that were cleaning a large mess of "white bass". They looked amazingly just like goldeye to me, but they were so tickled with their success that day that I just couldn't break the news to them.

    Who is the baitcaster master????

My 11 year old daughter turned out to be a natural with one. Given my own skills, I was kinda :;:huh.... I guess I am ok with them so long as I'm using a heavy enough jig/lure, there's a knob on them that let's you tune the reel to the weight of the lure being used. Sorry, I'm not much help here.

    Sheepshead fish.

Back in the 80s, we commercially fished Sak and Audubon, drum were one of the premium non-game species we were allowed to keep and sell. They were worth more per pound than anything else we kept other than catfish. We also sold goldeye, carp, buffalo, and pretty much anything back then that...

Is the like button connected to Facebook?

Not that I'm aware of, but there is a feature on this page that brings threads to my attention on FB. It doesn't seem to know who I am though as far as my FB account and NDA account. Perhaps Vollmer can clarify this a little, because while I use FB...I'm not a fan of it.

    Spun hub repair?

Prop Works in Bismarck should be able to easily handle this for you.

    Backpack found at Heneger Landing

This site is going to lose its reputation as a hangout for slimeballs with all this damn good behavior! Bump... - - - Updated - - - BTW, where is Henegar Landing? Sometimes people use a name for a boat ramp that isn't consistent with NDgFs, Lewis and Clark here in Bismarck is a good example.

    Found at Langlers boat ramp.

Oh sweet Jeezus! I don't know how to react to this kind of honesty and good citizenry.... You are deserved of a couple bonus days of good fishing!

    Snagless set up for rocks

If I was planning on fishing in the rocks, like a submerged section of riprap, I'd go with an in-line trolling sinker and an Aberdeen (wire) styly hook. I love those Aberdeen hooks for spinners and slow-death rigs. Rather than breaking off the line, it just straightens the hook and I keep my...

    Spoons, again...

Hah hah hah, thanks but I'm still working my way through a bulk Cabelas Crap Cave purchase from 15+ years ago! And yep, while the son is off to the State Trap Tournament this weekend, the daughter is having a sleep over. So tomorrow may be another trip to that same shoreline with a couple of...

    Apple tree insecticide?

It's called sodium lauryl sulfate. Heck of a surfactant. Basically, it suffocates the bugs as the small openings in their exoskeleton are full of water. Without it, the water tends to bead up and the insects can walk on water tension. Add just a little dish soap or shampoo and they sink and...

    Spoons, again...

Hah, much closer to Bismarck than Canada. But I have to keep the GPS coordinates a bit on the down low as I got the Goose Lake treatment from a couple fellow anglers.
