House Bill 1151- Prohibiting baiting bans

The pros of baiting are rarely discussed in their defense of bait bans, but the pros are significant. That’s what makes me fairly outspoken on this issue. They won’t have an honest/open discussion about it in their arguments. Just like the COVID debacle. Once the mRNA jab was chosen as the lone...

House Bill 1151- Prohibiting baiting bans

Bait makes the kill shot dramatically easier to deliver compared to deer drives, etc. I suspect that the majority of bait site kills are one/done. I wonder how baiting stacks up against non-baiting kill attempts with respect to conservation of the resource (how many deer are killed but never...

    Sitka gear…..$$$$

I bought Arc’teryx Alpha mountaineering rain gear 20 years ago for fishing because kickass fishing raingear wasnt a thing yet. $200 for jacket, same for bibs. On sale at Scheels. Still own them - still incredibly comfortable and effective. They’re $650 each now. 😬

House Bill 1151- Prohibiting baiting bans

I’d like to see the BHA defense of banning scents in particular. “As used herein, bait includes grain, seed, mineral, salt, fruit, vegetable nut, hay, any naturally derived scent or lure (e.g. urine), or natural or manufactured food placed by an individual.”

House Bill 1151- Prohibiting baiting bans

BHA: “While we do not have a stance regarding baiting ethics,”… I don’t believe that for a second.

House Bill 1151- Prohibiting baiting bans

Even if CWD can be managed (debatable), the bait ban exclusion from NDGF’s overall management plan would limit just one relatively tiny portion of the entire theoretical transmission pathway. Nobody’s tying their hands from reducing transmission in the other ways. (carcass transport etc)

    Sitka gear…..$$$$

I very much appreciate good gear but can’t bring myself to pay retail. I’ve not once bitched that I bought good gear - except when I lost it or somehow screwed it up.

LOL - some people really worry about CWD interspecies jump some of those same people who sign up for boosters that we know rewires your immune response system at the genetic level - permanently

    Baiting Ban

That's easy enough... but you have to place food to get them coming and going to food. At that point you're baiting for the purpose of hunting... not? And they're still congregating at the food. So they really haven't accomplished the POSSIBLE reduction in the transmission they worship as a...

I'm baffled by the gyrations and mental gymnastics these people use in reaching their 4. Discussion. https://www.dropbox.com/s/18tl7v63i0y7lmf/The%20importance%20of%20localized%20culling%20in%20stabilizing%20chronic.pdf?dl=0 It is entirely possible that I'm just getting too old and can no...

Holy cow, I had no idea that culling is planned by NDGF. WTF https://bismarcktribune.com/news/state-and-regional/north-dakota-taking-new-approach-to-managing-devastating-deer-disease/article_c4a0dfe4-23c3-11ed-ba28-7b748f62e8ec.html “ Scientific knowledge of infection rates has advanced in...

They have the duty to do something about EHD then as well I guess. Maybe some social media psy op that changes hunter attitudes about their inability to do anything useful about EHD. :)

    Baiting Ban

I couldn’t disagree more in cases where they 1. have no hard evidence bait bans are effective 2. they themselves encourage deer congregation with state funded food plots 3. it unnecessarily limits opportunities for young/old archers (harms the very activity used to manage populations)
