    we (galwhofishes) cuts all ours off raw, then the raw cut corn goes into big baking pans with cream, salt, butter, etc. to be cooked about 75% We cool it, stir to distribute buttery chunks, then vacuum pack single meal servings into bags.     back in myyy day, we used it correctly! sure... we often bled like stuck pigs, couldn't afford stitches, so it would get horribly infected. But that's just the way it waaaas... and we LIKED it!!!! - - - Updated - - - indirectly right?... as a necessary part of making you a tuna sammich?

    Gosh it's gotta be the pressure relief valve on the water heater unless they vented that into the drain. especially now that I see everything else switches to PVC right out of the main. and maybe your pressure relief valve is corroded and unseated - tapping on it might get it to settle back...
