    SNOW

Just wet in Fargo (that's what she said). Trees are clacking, though, so something was freezing. But the drive to work was A-OK. Then again, interstate is closed between here and GF. Big accident on 94 between VC and J-town.

    Measure 2: Marijuana Legalization

Y'all realize even if it does pass, our legislatures will screw it up. They could mess up a wet dream.

    Wanton waste

Probably a guide who had a bunch of paying customers that wanted to hunt but had zero intention of doing anything with the birds.

Crazy Hunter Harassment Duck Hunting In North Dakota (Game Warden Involved!)

Man, that ship sailed 10 years ago. You should just assume these days there's a camera at all times pointed at you and recording.

    new to ND deer hunting

Gun season, a lot of things go out the window. If you're hunting posted, private land, I'd just set up on a stool in some cover and make sure you have a nice view of the travel routes. If you're in early and set up quiet, you'll see deer when everyone around you is pushing the adjacent cover.

Deer Rifle Sight In Issues: I feel like an absolute dunce

    Glad I could help!! Haha

Deer Rifle Sight In Issues: I feel like an absolute dunce

It's the front screw in the rear base. It's literally stuck on my gun. I can get the back screw out, but the front just spins and you can't get the base off. Damndest thing I've ever seen. Even the two of us prying it up while the other tried backing the screw out couldn't get it to catch so we...

Deer Rifle Sight In Issues: I feel like an absolute dunce

So I rifle hunt so rarely these days (up until last year I hadn't pulled a rifle tag in ND since 2019), that I honestly can't recall the last time I've had to tinker with my rifle scope. Every year I'd go to the range or my parent's back yard, pace out 100 yards, and fire two shots, which would...

    Top of the Morning!

Morning! Got a weekend home to get some honey-do work done, then I'll be heading to 2H Wednesday evening to spend a few nights in my truck and try to stick a buck with my bow (found a miiiighty juicy draw on public land last year with a nice scrape line that I've been dying to get a few sits...

    Possible Venison Chili?

I never have to supplement fat to chili. Just a bit of oil when browning the ground venison and caramelizing the onions.

    Who is waterfowl hunting?

Hey, that's the beauty of the sport: In the end, we all kill ducks. I used to exclusively hunt fields. It just doesn't do it for me any more. I feel water is a lot more challenging, and has more tradition. Makes me feel like I'm "duck hunting" versus duck shooting. But far be it from me to...

    Top of the Morning!

Morning! Sent the kids to school today in T-shirts and shorts. Told them to enjoy it, because by tomorrow summer is done (at least for the next 10 days). I, personally, am immensely anticipating the forthcoming frosty weather. Leaves are falling quickly, and that sharp bite of sub-freezing temps...

    Pheasants 2022

Unless I get invited, after deer season I'm going turn coat and hunting MN for grouse for the rest of the year. They're way more fun, taste better, and I enjoy the woodsy scenery far, far better than eating cattail fuzz and getting poked in the face by reeds in SE ND.

    Who is waterfowl hunting?

I'm a Nodak and I prefer hunting water 10 to 1. Especially now with the electronic posting. Give me a chunk of PLOTS or WPA any day. It's way more fun watching the dogs work in water, anyway.

    Dog Vests

I'll second the Sylmar vests. Very tough. Easy to put on. I use them on my wirehairs. Act as a little extra protection, and you can adjust the fit to mitigate chaffing. I love orange vests, even if the cover isn't super thick. It's amazing how even the smallest sliver of blaze orange can stick...

    Montana dog hunter

I didn't realize she skun the thing. Holy...crapola. That's almost as bad as the instagram "influencer" chick who bragged about the "sharptails" she shot in Nodak and posted a pic of some young hen pheasants. There's stupid all over this here earth, and God made social media to help filter...

    Top of the Morning!

Don't think there's much of a recipe, honestly. You need to grind/crush the apples, press them, and then I believe you store the juice with yeast to ferment it.

    migration

This fall sure seems to be a lot cooler, lot faster than others. Saw some high Canada flocks last weekend, and I've heard of snows in the area already. Frost on the rooftops in Fargo today. Obviously it takes a lot to kick birds out of here, but I have high hopes on some of the early Canada...

KDM, you ever make cider out of those apples?? I had homemade hard cider once and it was deeelightful.

    ND Moose checks out hunter

Man that's cool. I recall a late season pheasant hunt when I went solo with just the two wirehairs. It was borderline blizzard, and would have been if there were snow. Instead we battled some stiff December winds and worked a well known tree line. I couldn't help but notice some tracks that...
