    extreme sneak mount

He's spendy, but Sportsman's Taxidermy in EGF is where I'd go. Museum quality is an understatement.

It's 45 minutes after opener...where are the success pix????

    ND deer opener

I'm going to be "that guy" trying to fill a bow tag during rifle opener. I sat in -20 last year and it was NO FUN. Hopefully a few degrees above freezing makes it more enjoyable. Plus the brothers Wirehair are PO'd that big papa hasn't taken them pheasant hunting lately. I need to get the deer...

Papa Smurf had a REAL GOOD WEEKEND!!!!

Holy smokes Kirk, you weren't kidding! What a weekend. One for the memory banks. Your smoker is going to be putting in some SERIOUS OT in the near future...

    ND deer opener

I've been rifle hunting and sitting still in the woods and had people smoking cigs march past me without even looking me in the eye. Public is public, and some folks just don't give a damn. What I've found is that these seldom wreck the hunt. I can't even count how many times I've seen deer...

    E-Collar GPS with Beeper?

Personal preference: Keep them separate. I like a training collar for training and a GPS collar for tracking. I tried a full season with the Alpha and never was able to issue a timely command when a correction was needed. For me (because old habits die hard) I can reach down to my hip and issue...

    E-Collar GPS with Beeper?

I'm not sure they have an integrated system, but you can by stand-alone beepers for reasonable price and just add it to the collar. I think Tri-Tronics had their Upland Beeper that I once found for $99. Had it and it worked great. Only inconvenience is you wouldn't be able to control it by your...

Is everyone ready for the blizzard?

Around Pekin and west there was a good 6 inches, and it was knee- to thing-deep snow where I tried bowhunting Saturday morning. Roads were absolute crap, but were much better by midday. I boogied early and hit a spot further south, so didn't stick around for the afternoon hunt.

    Fake news!!!???

It's...The Onion. They BIRTHED fake news. It's a satiracle website. The point of its existence is to create stores that aren't true.

    Gator Giggin' Shack Accessory Advice...............

My grandfather had a shack that looked EXACTLY the same as that (except he covered the outside with spare John Deere green paint). He put the heater behind where he sat and vented out the side. Always had a rope to tie around me when I was a squirt. Just in case I got a bit too fidgety and close...

    Time to Rattle?

I might try it this weekend. We'll see. If the wind forecast stays the same, I might punt and drive a couple hours to spend a night in the truck and hunt some public land that has worked in the past. With rifle opener a week away, it could be prime time for a bow hunter...

BRAVING the MN Deer woods this weekend!

I grew up in Minnesota and hunted MN for deer until I knew better. But in all that time, I never heard of people shooting at sounds. Sure those aren't 'Sconi interlopers??

Using Dogs to Track Wounded Deer

You make it sound like if this were legal, every deer hunter out there is suddenly going to start attempting 00 yard archery shots or winging lead at running deer... sort of like they already do... What was your argument again?

Using Dogs to Track Wounded Deer

I may or may not have tagged it, and I may or may not have actually shot it first. Couldn't find it. Thought, "well dang, I guess I'll go bird hunting." And wouldn't you know it: Not a single sharptailed grouse in those oak bottoms but we did find a deer! Ha! I'd rather be lucky than good any day.

Using Dogs to Track Wounded Deer

I've NEVER used my wirehairs to track a wounded deer! It's ILLEGAL. What I HAVE done is gotten my dogs, grabbed a shotgun and gone bird hunting with them, and just happened along a blood trail, and subsequently stumbled upon a dead deer. PURE COINCIDENCE.

    Pointers

Yes, you can set it to point mode and then the remote will either beep or vibrate when a dog is on point.

    Coyotes

I have yet to see a coyote this fall, but I hunt the east side. I guess all them mutts are further west.
