    Range finder help..

I first went through about five or six Bushnell, then two Leica, then a Swarovski that I still have and now a Sig 2000. The optics are so good in the Swarovski that I often don't carry my binocs. The only thing the Swarovski doesn't have is angle compensation. It will shoot to 1999 yards on...

    Leupold CDS

600 yards you could do for under $200. The Nikon Prostaff that I use works great with Strelok+. You can use the bullet drop, or dial in with the turrets.

    Leupold CDS

I have a couple of old Leupold tactical scopes that are very good. Since the mid 1990's I have had trouble. The last one run me $1299 and I worked and worked on my 300 mag to get a good group. One day I put an old 1977 Bushnell 3X9 Sportview on it and cut my group in half. I sent the scope...

    Uniflow Powder Measure

None of the powder measures work well with long grain powder. I always throw .2 grains light and trickle charge to the desired weight. With cartridges that I shoot a lot I use ball powders when possible. I have found that the best you can hope for is within .2 grains and it works best to move...

    Archery Turkey Hunting

My oldest son and I were set up on the side of the Killdeer mountains and had about 40 turkeys come by. We were using one of those cheap pop up blinds that looks like it's breathing when a little wind is involved. That scared the turkeys out of range. I remembered Cabela's phone number and...

    Improving the PLOTS program

I mean, how do you want it, a program (your recreation) that stands on its own or a program (your recreation) that is subsidized by everyone else? Oh my gosh that would make it just like agriculture. :;:duel

    State-owned Casinos anyone

Read the history of gambling and the mob in Nevada. Not a pretty picture. Gambling addiction is not the number one problem.

    State-owned Casinos anyone

A Reagan quote comes to mind: “Government is like a baby: an alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other.” There is little difference in the way politicians work whether it's federal, state, or county. Those who say state is more responsible...

Making the Switch to Copper Bullets

2400 I used Winchester 760, but that is the same powder as H414. I have had five 243s, but none currently. My last one really liked the Hornady 87 gr HPBT, over W760. I like ball powders for cartridges I shoot a lot. I think I am going to try Bighorn Hunter in my Creedmoor.

Making the Switch to Copper Bullets

I agree with Allen. I have shot X bullets since the late 1980's when they were still nearly unheard of. I have shot deer with them in 223, 22-250, 243, 270, 308, 300WSM, 300 Win Mag. I have host them in my 45 Auto, and my 44 mag. Also in sabots from my muzzleloader. If I had a nice elk...

    Fat Ass's r'us

Kurt down on the Mexican border I seen guys carrying silver bags just like in your picture. I had no idea they were on a training and weight loss regimen. :D

    State-owned Casinos anyone

It would be better than having Indian only casinos. My problem is I don't want to contribute to someone's addictions. I spend any extra money I get on ammo Just ordered 1000 Rainier subsonic bullets from Midway. I suppose I could have fed the one armed bandit, but this way I always win. I...

    Improving the PLOTS program

Years ago Wyoming had a program where a successful hunter would tear a coupon off his tag and leave in the landowners mail box. The landowner would then send that to the game and Fish and they paid the landowner. That was many years ago. Would it work to have a $20 tag along with a carcass tag...

    Improving the PLOTS program

OK then I'll go for the negative rep with you Wags. All these things are stupid, but looking at me through their scope is a pet peeve of mine. They should have the barrel wrapped around their empty head. I have more land than I could hunt in ten lifetimes. However, I hate to see am...

    Load for a 270

I find Jack O'Connors old standby of 60 gr H4831 with a 130gr a little hot with today's powders. I still use it for the 130 gr, but more often shoot 150 Berger VLD'S. I don't often make recommendations so I went in my gun room and took a picture from my Barnes manual. I push 150gr to 3070fps...

    Wild Raspberries?

My brother has a farm in the Sheyenne River valley and there are many raspberries. They are slightly smaller like the wild strawberries, but also like the wild strawberries they are sweeter. We see them most of the time in the same area as red osier dogwood. I dug up my raspberries. I...
