woodland jumpimg mouse" is this a minnesota thing or a chinese plant?

They are rare around here, I've only saw one in my life, it was hopping across our lawn about 40 years ago. Like with all mice that cross my path it didn't end well for him.

Get a faster mower.

Used to see them while working in the hay fields. They could really cover the ground in a hurry. Dad called them kangaroo mice.

There are at least a couple species of jumping mice between MN and ND.

I run across the jumpers here by Bismarck at least yearly at my place. I've seen them jump well over 2 ft high, but probably less than 3 ft.

I saw my first one near the banks of Devils Lake about 1989. The thing sure threw me for a loop. Then the adults that didn't believe a 9 year old telling a tale of a "kangaroo" mouse.
