2012 Chevy Silverado Tires

So I had a 2009 Chevy silverado that I ended up putting Cooper Discoverer A/T3 10 ply tires on. I sold that pickup and picked up this pickup. Thought I would get the same tire as those seemed pretty darn good out ice fishing and pheasant hunting. Also on the snowy days with decent drifts....

So I called today to set up an appointment only to find out that I have a different rim size. I had 265x70x17. Now I have 265x65x18. They don't make a 10 ply tire for this size. back to square 1 to get a tire for the ice fishing, pheasant hunting, and modest amount of field travel I do. I also end up hauling a decent amount with the pickup thus the 10 ply.

What have you guys tried, liked, disliked?

Unless you are hauling a "tons" of stuff a 6 ply would be fine. I have the same tires on my 98 chevy in a 6 ply and after 4 years they are still going strong. I load the back with lumber, tow my boat among other things and have never had an issue with them squatting. You are going to reach the pickups limit before you hit the tire limit. 10 ply is better suited toward 3/4 ton and up heavy duty trucks.

I put 10 ply Hankook DynaPro ATM's on my pickup. I have nothing bad to say about them. Only traveled a bit in snow before the summer arrived and they performed well for in town. The real test will be my badlands trip, pheasant/deer hunting, and ice fishing. As far as towing goes, I've had my 16 ft tiller, my dads 1700 angler, and brothers pontoon behind me with zero problems. If one more person asks to use my pickup to haul lumber/sheet rock, I'm going to buy a honda accord.

When talking to the person on the phone, they indicated they were 4 ply. Any idea if there is a tread depth difference?

Call around more. Tread depth should be the same just a wider tire with less side wall and bigger rim. Call Dakota wholesale tire in Fargo and talk to Jeremy. He will give you pretty much every option you have

Dynapro ATM are what I'm running now. My bosses also run them on all their farm pickups and they are holding up extremely well. Have heard good things about the fierce attitudes too

put a 70 dollar level kit in the front get it alligned and get 275/70 18s you will love the way your truck looks oh and take off the gay front bottom air dam.

I have the Hankook Dyna pro ATM on my 2500 Dodge Cummins and they have been an awesome tire for all around use.

I just went with a set of D rated 8 ply retread tires on my 1500 Dodge ram hemi from this company, have a couple thousand miles on them and like them a lot. Got in on a free shipping deal a couple months ago on 285-70-17 size, $520 for a set of 4 delivered to my doorstep.

I have 10ply wild country on my 2500 dodge. Have about 8000 miles on them most pulling a camper. They have good traction and are wearing well. After running 4 and 6 ply on my 1500 for years and finally getting a set of 10ply on that one also I would not go back if I did any type of pulling with it.

After rattling my teeth loose with 2 sets of 10 plys on my 1/2 ton these are awesome, rides much smoother, I drive 45 miles of gravel county roads going to and from work 4 days a week so the softer ride is nice to have back again even though they are a bit wider.

The thing that worries me is a haul a lot of weight in the back quite often and I like the stiff side wall. I just don't like that rolling felling of the tire u get of a lesser ply.

I'm thinking sell the truck and spare the tire. Best bet is asking for our tax money bail out back and get your tires for free
