2016 ND Deer Opener

Finally found a buck on state ground so was able to get that tag punched. nice to be able to get the deer down so I have no pressure going forward so i dont get tempted by a small deer like this guy as I try to fill my rez tag. passed on a deer that was ten to fifteen inches bigger just a couple of minutes before but he was on rez ground so i kept rolling on to one of my main spots when I spotted this guy paired up with a doe in a crp field so was able to do a little sneak and send some lead downrange.

I'm lost. Ur speaking of 150s and 160s and u have a 130 inch deer in Ur box?

Yes and if your brain was fully functional life wouldn't be so hard for you but alas it doesn't so I will slow this down for you. If you pay attention you would see thats is the state tag not a rez tag. the rez tag I use for trophy hunting and the state tag is the meat deer. Both tags are good for the same area just not on the same ground. In my area there is very little state ground and almost none in the areas I've been seeing most of the bigger deer. your name is horn hunter let's see your deer!

Well figured it would be slower this morning with heat and it definitely was. most mornings I see 40 to 70 deer in the first couple hours with only a quick sweep with the glass but only saw 18 this morning checking every little hidey hole they like to hang out in. deer were bedding down almost straight off and wereally all down within a half hour of sun rise. would think tomorrow will be better with the cool down....well at least I hope it is!

I know this is obvious to some but if you have a buck tag in your pocket, you really need to get out there soon. 3e2 daytime buck activity has really shot up the last few days. I'm stoked for the weekend.

Well yesterday was a lot of fun doing an all day sit. Saw about 20 deer, called/decoyed a little 2x3 into my lap, but couldn't get the big guy's attention as he was cruising for does about 400 yards away. Weather changes a bit for next weekend. Maybe I'll give it another go.
