23rd Annual Delta Waterfowl Banquet. Highlights this year is we have a ND Moose Tag that will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Laughing Sun will Cater the Dinner for this event -- Brisket and Smoked Turkey! Thanks for your support.

I thought these big game licenses had to be raffled off? Auctioned to the highest bidder doesn't seem right to me for a once in a lifetime tag for most of us pions.

moose tag went for 53K, the winner was a phone in bidder, local dude tapped out at 50k or so
it is what it is, this is the future of "hunting"

$53K for a ND moose tag?! Would be awesome to have walking around money like that - but would rather go to the Yukon for that price.
I know lots of gents in my area would pay that once in lifetime tag glad they made good money.

With out auction tags like that alot of these once in a lifetime species would not even be available. They put more dollars into conservation with that one tag than most do in a lifetime

Other side of the coin one must keep in mind.

How much money does Delta Waterfowl put towards moose or even big game conservation projects ?

Not sure on this tag but I know the sheep tags that were sold this year at the Wild Sheep Banquet went for crazy money. 10% of the auction price went to Wild Sheep Foundation and the rest went back to the state for Sheep conservation (I might have that backwards as I can be dyslexic). ND brought more than the SD. Without auctioning tags how much would each of us be willing to donate for conservation or how many people would have to be asked/begged to make a even half of what these tag sales did?

Auction tags are good and bad. Lots of money raised but takes a tag from the general population applying the hard way. The percentage reduction can be significant depending on total tags allocated but it all depends. 50k for a moose is nuts to me either way.

How about we do away with auction tags, cut the price to buy tags by 50-75%, add 50-75% more available tags across the board.
After a few years of that we can see what kind of habitat and wildlife we have. Then more people would get the tags they deserve and would have more gas money.
Auctioning tags actually gives another opportunity to everyone, anyone can bid on the tags. If you can't afford to be the winning bidder that is only one person's problem. If it's raffle tags normally you can buy 1 or you can buy 1,000 (or whatever), I've never seen where the sellers say you can only have 1 ticket so that everyone that enters has an equal opportunity.
Trust me I am far from going out and bidding on tags and I think pretty hard if I want to spend the money on a raffle guns, animals, etc. Make complaints that it's turning into a rich person sport then go make more money, drive a cheaper vehicle, live in a cheaper house/neighborhood etc, instead of complaining or putting down others.
