3-year-old boy dies in tractor accident in Bottineau County

NEWBURG, N.D. – The North Dakota High Patrol says a three-year-old boy died Tuesday after falling out of a tractor and under its tires.
The Highway Patrol says that 39-year-old Joseph Henry and his son Burke were headed southbound on 9th Avenue NW toward Newburg at 11 a.m. in a tractor pulling a coulter disk.
They say the left side door opened and Burke fell out of the cab and was run over by the left rear tires.
The boy was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remains under investigation


What a terrible thing to happen to a family. My thoughts and prayers go out to them.

Horrible thing to hear and my thoughts are with the family. Freak deal that could happen to any little one that finds joy in tagging along in the tractor. Don't want to make this about me for one second but it hits me hard beings my 5 year old jumps at any chance to ride with me, my dad or brother on the farm. My deepest condolences go out to the family.

I read this story and actually got choked up. I have a 4- and 1-year old and this is beyond words. Can't even fathom.

I know of a family that this happened to about 25-30 years ago too.
If the machine doesn't have a chair and seatbelt in it for a passenger don't give rides. Yes it is a freak deal and accidents happen but i would feel much better to have a child or a friend pissed off at me for not giving them a ride in the tractor or combine than to have to attend their funeral. Just terrible news and i truly feel very sorry for all involved!
