My neighbor put down crushed concrete over heavy clay. Worked out really well.

Another vote for crushed rock or concrete. Everything else will track worse than those two. Pea rock will never pack and be a nightmare(have seen that first hand).

Crushed concrete then when it rains that concrete powder will set up nicely.
If your in Bismarck out on divide on the way to the landfill Wiese and sons have a yard there they will save you some money compared to other companies. A coworker get his there

I hate pit run. To many big rocks in that. All you'll be doing is picking rocks. Pay the extra 5 or 10 bucks a yard for screened gravel. I really like crushed asphalt. Packs very well and once the heat and sun hit it in the summer it sets up even more.

Yes Cement is the powder my bad Kurt. I get guys coming up all the time when were paving in their neighborhoods asking about camper pads and such and what it would cost to do. when asphalt is way to expensive I give them other options, most older gentlemen who don't always understand I try to explain it to them. Not everybody is in the Industry and knows all about it.

We used compaction gravel for the pad at home. If I did one at the lake I'd do the same and then cover it with astroturf in front of the camper,
