Heres a good discussion I listened to yesterday. Its nice to see some people being sensible about this AI stuff...
Ok...I was about to copy/forward^^^^#422. You stopped me...Please explain in crayon and type slowly. I'm not the sharpest knife in the socket.Nope
more critical problem we need to fix IMO is feminism. A lot of the problems you listed above are a result of the feminization of our society.I don't deny the amazing time saving and wonderful things that AI could possibly be used for. My take on it is in spite of all the good things it will do that its primary use will be to identify, neutralize and punish people when we get to the point of those in charge doing things that they know we all would get up in arms about. They won't tighten the noose until all the pieces are in place for a small number of elites to be able to control billions of people without getting their hands dirty. I have a serious question for the advocates of no holds barred AI. Even before AI became prominent we all know people that are to the point they can't even do simple tasks anymore without getting on their phone to google the answer. Researchers have posted 8th grade tests from the 40s and 50s in the one room school house days and the information they were required to know was on a par of todays college courses. Now days colleges are reporting that the freshmen they are admitting to college cant even perform basic high school math. So in the face of a complete loss of todays people losing the ability to know how to do their own research or think critically it seems we are becoming more helpless while being made to feel like we are more empowered by the new tech, all by design I believe. So my question is knowing we are getting dumber and less self reliant how is giving us all AI to answer our every question, telling us what to think, eventually telling us what is proper to think about a subject how is that making our species better?
This morning a rebuilt a web page with claude/netlify that my org uses constantly, adding functionality that weve needed for literally decades, but its always been put off because of 'cost'. Took me maybe 30 minutes to completely rewrite the page, not sure if Ill be able to get it implemented though, because weve got web devs who are very protectionist of their jobs. You can be not excited. What I just did in Claude Code was incredible. Full on Android app with integration back to network. Will save me hours a week. I could never have done it without AI. It’s changing work. Killing the world too maybe. But crazy good.
