Want to get a good summer tread tire that rides well and makes good mileage. Used to run Michelin LTX M/S2 but now they quit making that compound and went to the Defender and that doesn't make near the mileage i am told.
This will be on a 16 Duramax crewcab 4x4. Not pulling much with it.
Want something mainly for highway driving in summer and will switch tires in the winter.
What have you guys been running and what mileage are the tires making?

I would hit up the tire shops and see which MFG offers the highest mileage warranty and guarantee and go from there.
I have always heard Michelins were good for high mileage but didn't realize they changed the compound.
On cars Toyo had the ultra 800 tires actually got over 100K out of a set of them but ran them to rags until the cords showed, Not sure what there is for highway tread now days. BF has always had some good rubber compounds for high mileage.

I run firestone destination a/t 18's and have been pleased but the tread may be a little much for you if your focused on highway. Got 65k out of my last set and just put another set on. Half ton crew cab chevy.

on a f150 though, he is putting them on a real pickup

On a real pickup, used to get groceries! He has a 3/4 ton that doesn't pull much. He must live in Bismarck and has a 3/4 ton just like his friends that also dont pull much!

I was always told that on a 3/4 ton that pulls heavy trailers (heavier than a camper) and drives gravel, if you get more than 20000 miles out of any tire, your doing good.

I run Hankook Dynapro ATM's on my F-250. They are considered a 50K tire, But if you rotate them every 6-8K, they Last me about 65K.

Have the Duramax dually to pull our 40'+ 5th wheel toy hauler. That is loaded heavy. So the 3/4 ton will have light duty compared to that. Will only pull the enclosed trailer and gooseneck flatbed once in a great while. Ya grocery getter, now that's funny. Will have to tell my bride that one! Good one Sub_Elect!!! :;:thumbsup

Checked a lot of tire shops but haven't decided on what might work. Told by many of them there is no mileage on the 10 ply tires anymore. Most if not all used to say 50,000 mile tire or 70,000 mile tire.
Wanted to see what others run and how they like them.

Had good luck with the cooper at3 on my work truck. Had 30000 on the tires when I sold it, and bet it had another 30 to 40000 left on them. Good all around traction and quiet on the highway.

I have nitto terra grapplers on now. Been a pretty good tire and seem to hold up to gravel pretty well. I've ran hankook dynapro 10 plys and those where a nice all around tire.
My next set I'm looking pretty hard at treadright wardens.

I know a couple guys that run the wardens and really like them, but Im not sure if you can get them in 18" 10ply, the guard dogs are your only choice I seen, but they really impressed me off road 2 winters ago but are a noisy tire on the highway.

Just looked at Treadwrights site and they do not offer 18" yet. I have about 15K on a set of warden load range D wardens and they have mostly gravel miles on them and show no signs of wear yet.
I tried Nitto one time many years ago and sold them, never liked how they handled and could never get them to balance right.
