Hit any of the local ones, to get your feet wet.

I don't think the AIM event frowns on boat size, but it did seem to attract the more hardcore crowd. Hoping that the regular folks like me start to flood it.

Just a little rules as far as boat and motors go
9. BOAT AND MOTOR:
A. All teams must provide on demand documented proof of boat owner’s liability insurance for a boat being used in an AIM event. This insurance policy must provide coverage for watercraft liability at a minimum of $100,000 (per occurrence) in the event of an accident.
B. Maximum horsepower for all outboard motor boats used in tournament competition cannot exceed the limitations set by the U.S. Coast Guard. Each boat must have a U.S. Coast Guard horsepower-rating plate attached to the boat by the manufacturer.
C. Only boats that are 16 feet or more in length may be used in competition.
D. For the safety of all competitors, all boats must be equipped with an approved operable ignition kill switch and lanyard. The lanyard must be attached to the driver's body any time the main combustion engine is operating above no wake speed. Any time the main combustion engine is operating and in gear above no-wake speed, there must be a driver in the driver's seat in full control of the boat.
E. During competition, every boat must have all U.S. Coast Guard-required safety equipment, including a functional bilge pump. Each boat must be equipped with a functional marine band VHF two-way radio. Handheld VHF radios are allowed, but recommended as back-ups.
F. Refueling during tournament hours is permitted ONLY at publicly-accessible, retail locations. Refueling must be accomplished ONLY directly into an approved tank through a hose with a nozzle. Refueling from loose cans is expressly prohibited.

I signed up for all four tournaments this year hoping I can at least fish 3 of them.Talking with the tournament director,Denny Fox, entries and interest has been good. The attraction of a no limit,no kill format and "weigh" every fish you catch is huge!
The stress of making sure I take a good photo of every fish is there, however,if the fish will not cooperate and measuring is difficult than we take several shots to insure we have the correct length.

I encourage anybody that is curious to sign up for the first tournament on the river,April 30th, and give it a try!

Id like to register but curious how "professional" this tournament is? Never fished a tournament before just got a boat this last year, nothing big but a 16' Crestliner superhawk 1600 with a 75hp 4stroke Yamaha ... it'll do 35ish .... Scared of all the big dogs out there ... might do a smaller one just to dip my toes in the water maybe do "fishing for the cure" in Beulah ....

The fishing for a cure is a fun tourney, basically you can take it as serious as you want. Good cause also. I have fished the big muddy a few years ago and don't have a big boat, just hang to the back at the start and let the big boys go out first. I like fishing a tourney or 2 every year, just for fun and a day or 2 of fishing without the family.

Anyone looking to still sign up for the AIM on the Missouri river or any of the other AIM tournaments in North Dakota, there are still openings. This is a great circuit and a lot of fun. Great way to start out if you are looking to jump into the tournament scene or some competitive angling. Sundays are usually the tournament days. Take a look at AIMfishing.com and get signed up. This is a great deal for the anglers in North Dakota having a division here in our State with a chance to Qualify not only for our own State Championship but a shot at making it out of North Dakota to compete in a NO-Entry Fee National Championship against anglers from Wisconsin and Minnesota. Take a look and get signed up. Would be great to fill all of the tournaments in North Dakota.

The field limit is 100 boats and there many new teams signing up already.

Dakotaeye29,you are correct the "Fishin for a Cure" tournament is a low pressure, fun for the family, event and I will be there.

The Cure tournament is June 18th and the Garrison AIM tournament is on June 19th,the boundarys are identical,so pre-fishing will be identical.Could a guy get lucky and have a "hot spot" for two days??

Hello North Dakota

We are 5 weeks away from your first event on the Missouri at Bismarck. We will be launching out of Graner Bottoms. We are in the 30's for registered boats so far. Today is a good day to get your entry in, lets make your circuit as big and profitable for the anglers as the other 2 divisions. Go to our website and get'er done.

Thanks everyone

Why let the size of everyone's boat scare you? The boat don't make the fisherman. I'd rather be the guy whooping them in a 16ft lund than being whooped by a 16ft lund.

Just sent in my registration for all 4 regular season events today! Can't wait!

I want to invite everyone that hasn't tried the AIM CRR format to give it a shot. It is by far the lowest stress tournament since you don't have to make decisions on what fish you should keep. You don't have to worry about others possibly culling. AND ALL THE SPAWNERS ARE RETURNED TO THE LAKE!

Lets build this circuit! There is no reason these tournaments can't fill. All other tournaments on Sak are full this year, we can get 100 boats at each AIM event. Also I have to mention that you can qualify to fish a NO-ENTRY-FEE National Championship with a field of 30 boats for a 1st place prize of a BRAND NEW WARRIOR BOAT, valued at 50k!

Sawyer,
Today is the last day you can register for the Missouri River event for this coming Sunday. You can't wing 8K unless you try!

If you look at AIM it is one of the best if not the best payout structure in walleye tournament fishing. A full field of 100 boats paying out $8k to first place is hard to top. I can only hope at some point that we have full fields to compete with. Please push AIM to your friends and I hope to see all of you on the water this weekend!
