Blaming the parents is a slippery slope. Unless the parent was encouraging shitty behavior in some way. Sometimes kids just go down the wrong path no matter how great they were brought up. It’s a case by case basis IMO. But to say parents are directly responsible for a minors actions as a blanket statement I %100 disagree with

Make parents accountable minors hanging out at bar closing is unacceptable, children stealing cars slap on the hand, released within 24hrs then business as usual, this, city kids country folks small towns not so much.
Murderapolis prime example young minors some 14yrs out wee hours.... where are the parents or parent? Zero discipline.

So your saying parents have no bearing on how their children turn out?
Yes they have some bearing on how kids turn out but evil children come from both good and bad parents as do good children come from both good and bad parents.

An example is the guy that shot the United Health care CEO a couple weeks ago. from what it sounds is he came from a good and wealthy home.

In the USA over 50% of children a raised in a single mother home, of those homes a certain percentage are raised in a home with a man that isn't their father, and sees the children as an inconvenience. This is the biggest problem for our children. Then we have a portion of society living on assistance their entire lives, which teaches one to not take any responsibility for themselves, including the POS parent, and their subsequent lovers. Kids try to find a way to fit in with what they can, and sometimes the kids that except each other have to find ways to survive. These can be from simple shop lifting, to dealing drugs, prostituting, or even worse.
Yes this is a parenting problem for a majority of it, some good families can have bad things happen(bad Kids), but usually the family (single mother) is the cause, and our friends on the liberal progressive side have promoted this non nuclear family for decades. Men (dads) were not needed for a family to survive. Now men (dads) are evil and full of toxic masculinity. The direct reason this crap has happened started back in the hippie days, and when the liberal left scooted the male out of the house, and replace him with food stamps, wic, daycare assistance, and we can add pronouns, and trans bullshit to this recipe now too.
Just my take on a terrible situation, and of course we in the midwest see a lot less of the trouble, but the bigger the city, the bigger the problem. LSS has a ton to do with this too.

Not true, some times a dog will need to be "trained" several times for it to take. To this day I will repeat stupid shit that I know will have a poor result, but choose to anyways.

He was an adult and at that point the parents have no control any more. A minor child is under the care of parents who have all the control. I don’t really know how it should be handled but parents need to have some kind of responsibility of how their minor children act. If minors don’t show up for school parents can be charged and that’s very minor. It has to be a case by case but if parents are found negligent and give minor kids access to weapons they can’t legally buy there has to be some kind of consequences. If the kid went to Jamal on the block bought a stolen gun with out any knowledge of the parents is a different situation and should be treated as such. These are not accidents or kids doing dumb shit it’s mass murder and accountability needs to start some where.

I tend to agree. Parents aren't necessarily responsible for shitty kids, but do have some control over their actions. Slippery slope.
Your kid could be a great kid...hunter, fisherman, outdoorsman...granted access to firearms in case he/she wants to get out for an early morning/late afternoon hunt with buddies. If that kid goes off the rails is it parents' fault? Probably not.
If your kid has mental health issues, meeting with counselor regularly, etc., probably on you to keep firearms away.

Raising humans can be tricky as we are so different. What works for one kid will turn another against the parents. You could dive into all the research available and write a new book and not nail it down. We're all just too different.

As far as being responsible for a child's actions, of course, the parents are somewhat responsible, but to what degree...Ya IDK.
