Yet another Rooster season has come and almost gone. Although the snow conditions are less than desirable, I will be darned if I will miss the last weekend, especially since this may be the last go round with my 11 yr old blind and darn near deaf Springer. He may just be going along for the ride but will be taking him just the same because he may be chasing Roosters in Doggie heaven before the next season rolls around.:( My almost 2 yr old female Springer has some pretty big paws to fill.
Good luck to any other Rooster hunters heading out this weekend!

I'll be down in Ashley and will jump a few slew bottoms I'm sure. Going to be primarily ice fishing though with the frigid temps. Good luck to all who brave the elements this weekend!!

I wish - but it's just too hard on poodle paws. Maybe if I bought boots.

Are there some breed of dogs where snow with zero to minus temps is not too big a deal? Lab and Chesapeake I suppose?

I think they do better in colder temps rather than some of those ungodly warm temps we had in Nov. and last year opener. Besides.. I get cold also so excursions out of the truck will be short and hopefully sweet. haha I have one of those vests to put on her as well.
Like always though.. no matter the time of the year, it is best to keep an eye on our good hunting buddies.

I'm planning on going Sunday if the temp gets above 15. My short haired dogs don't like the cold to much.

3R you are a good master to your best of friends. Stay warm and have a good hunt with your buds. Memories are forever, nothing can take that away.

I MIGHT wander into one spot that I've been saving in case I had a partner. It's a bit big for one guy and Herc will probably be on my 6 instead of my 12 o'clock. That is a HUGE might.

I am heading out with a client and coworker tomorrow for a quick morning scoot, hoping the birds are not too far off the road...haha, then I am hoping to drill my first hole on Saturday at our little local pond, guess they have been catching some keepers just a quick 2 miles form my house.

I'm in the same boat with my dog. He's getting up there and may not make it another season so I'd love to take him but the snow is so deep out here it would be just too hard on him. He's a lab and the snow and cold has never bothered him at all but I don't think we've had snow like this in his lifetime. It is sad because I would love for one more trip with him.

I might go drive around to find some ditch chickens. I have some places that aren't to big to hunt that way it will be short hunts on a cold day. I might even take the 270 WSM just in case I see a yote running around.

Was thinking about do a bit of hunting or Ice fishing on my way to Fort KDM this weekend. Want to drill a few more holes before the Wounded Warriors tournament next weekend, but it is the last weekend of season. Probably bring the shotgun just encase.

Went pheasant hunting last weekend in Hettinger county. Saw lots of birds but they were tough to get close too. Very skittish and the snow didn't help (tough walking).

I'll be in DL for the Wounded Warrior as well. Always a good time.

Hopefully get out Saturday one more time.

My dog Milo with his 6 retrieved birds on this mornings hunt.
A bunch of us(over 30 guys) down by Regent banged out a limit in about 45 minutes.

Buddy of mine and I are going. Probably down by where we used to own a hunting shack, McClusky area. I am sure the snow will suck but would like to end the season with a few more ditch parrots in the freezer.
