They need to cut doe tags you fucking retard. Not give “extra doe tags for areas almost void of deer. Cut the tags, thats what we’ve all been begging for since the last hard winter and EHD…..Shoulda been done 3 years ago……

Im still not a fan of the one tag system. I do understand the idea behind it and semi agree but bowhunting, at least in my case is likely the most “days afield” type of hunting. The success rate has gone up I’ll agree to that but the hunter hours into it is a lot higher as well compared to rifle. On top of that the sales of tags that go unfilled is higher as well so in a sense the game and fish csn sell multiple tags for one deer so to speak as opposed to a one tag system. I get a bow tag yearly but I don’t fill it every year. Depending on the year I may go out a lot just to sit or like last year I bought a tag and never touched my bow. Something definitely needs to be done if the deer numbers dont start coming back up. Maybe a lottery for bow? I know a lottery and license cap is sorely needed for badlands Muleys for sure. My old man and I were talking about the shit show deer hunting has become and he told me back in the day the zone he hunted had a deal where if you drew a muley or “any buck” tag you were ineligible for it the following year….. maybe we need to implement a “sit out year” rule for all buck tags for rifle season. I don’t know if that would improve odds yearly or not but taking out a large pool of applicants who drew bucks the previous year may improve odds 🤷🏼
I actually think if I remember correctly success rates are trending backwards the last 4-5 years on archery tags. From mid 30s to low 30s and possibly even upper 20s 1 year (I haven’t looked recently but did a few months ago for another thread so I might be slightly off)

If anyone could assist that’d be helpful. I looked through the proclamation and cant see if I could use my muzzy and legally hunt with my drawn muzzy tag during regular rifle season. Anyone know?

I’d believe that. Lower deer numbers would definitely correlate into lower prices success rates for bow as well I’d assume

I don’t buy that . I think it’s cuz they are selling more bow tags that have no idea what they are doing

Not sure what it is but the stuff I saw last year while archery hunting in Wyoming was "unique" to say the least.

I'd be glad to address a few issues people are talking about for one the places without habitat. A those ares are void of game for reasons we all no to well no cover weather it be winter or all seasons look at pheasants as a indicator of good grounds for deer also. Deer are mostly found in wooded areas. whitetail can adapt to areas without trees and they do well in range ie pasture lands if the rain comes grass and they can do well in those ares I call those prarie whitetail. They are usually close to a agricultural field but not always. There are other types of deer that live off browse ie coulees buck brush. Alot of mule deer are in these types of areas. They eat alot of twigs and shrubs stuff the cattle have not already decimated. I have hunted along time in ND I'm 35 years old and can say prime habitat is key to finding good deer of any species or caliber the best habitat holds the greatest chance a deer can reach maturity. That's if u are looking for racks. Posted land in my opinion leads to bigger deer but how that helps the average hunter that's anyones guess.
