What does everybody here use?
I have one of the Kolpin mounts that is 2 pieces of thinner metal that the auger is cradled in. No real good way to secure the auger in tight and the auger is getting wear on contact points of the mount.

Im thinking I could make a simple mount out of some 2x6s or something.

Anybody have any homemade mounts?
Or would spending the money on a Digger mount be better?

I use the digger and i think its worth it. Super easy/secure and doesn't take up much space on your rack. I mounted the digger as far forward as possible and then made my own wood box to fill up the rest of the rack, no wasted space! Otter box for back of the atv with slide on rod case and bucket holder and you have one lean mean ice fishing machine!

I made my own......then had to modify with new auger........then had to modify because of extension.........bought the digger this year. Love it. No matter what auger configuration I take with it is secure.

Made my own digger style auger rack out of some square tubing I had laying around at home, works awesome. Haven't put much thought into a clamp yet to keep the auger on the rack, right now I just use a ratchet strap or tarp strap. Mounted on my sled, everything is solid. Saved myself $80-100, I'll eventually find a clamp like they have and weld it on

The digger auger carrier is the best on the market. It is a solid mount and keeps the auger secure. It is also the quickest mount to secure and insecure the auger. I would not go back and use anything else!

I use the clam mount on my ATV, I wanted something that supported the head of the auger and didn't just hold the auger by the flighting.

It works great and I leave it on while traveling down the highway as well.

I had an eskimo piranha that the clutch shaft bent on using a mount that didn't support the auger head, never again.

The digger has a metal L-bracket that does support the head and generally prevents it from spinning. On long bumpy runs i do usually still attach a bungee cord from the auger handle to the Atv rack just for reassurance.

Digger does have a new more heavy-duty carrier that has the clamp and rubber straps on both posts for extra security. Looks like the head support may be a little better as well.

Made a homemade one a few years ago with some scrap wood...a few bungee cords and auger doesn't move at all. Was free to make except for some paint. Also made a box for the back to hold buckets/sonar etc.

I think I'm going to move my digger this weekend to the back of the ATV at attach it to the frame with Heavy Tension Pins and SS Bolts to get it away from the rack. I saw something similar on an ATV form. I'll take a picture and give it a test run to see if there is enough support there which is my only concern.

Is that just to give you more room on the rack?

I was able to round up some pieces of metal so with some bolts, I should be able to make my own, similar to the Digger. If it doesn't work, Ill buy a digger. Wish I had a welder so I could make one like TommyGun!
