Banks Stump Feeder

Last year I set up a feed spot and just dumped it on the ground. I used a feed with pellets so every time it rained, it would become mush. This spring I bought a stump feeder to keep the feed the dry. I had some deer coming into it at first but nothing has come to the feeder in the last month. I am, however, getting pictures of deer on the two cameras I have within 60 yards of the feeder. While I was down there on Saturday, I put up a new camera about 230 yards away and dumped a bag of feed on the ground. Last night I had about 10 deer on camera at that site. Could they possibly be scared of the stump feeder?? I had the camera at the feeder take a picture at the last sync and it worked so I know that camera working.

I have had that with artificial feeders before. I don't know the rhyme or reason though because I have other deer just come right in. I would guess though it might be the feeder. I would suggest switching to corn if you can it wont turn to mush in the rain and putting right on the ground.

I think I'm going to to dump the feed on the ground this weekend and put the feeder in the shop. We will see if that changes things and then I will know if it's the feeder or something else in that spot that they're not liking.

they seem to not mind tripod feeders much, not sure why a stump feeder would spook them more. How long did you leave it out before you gave up on it? Takes them a while to get used to something new maybe...

What material is your feeder made of ? A few years ago I used a stump feeder that worked great, until it didn't. The problem I had was the deer would kick at the feeder to get more corn out and since it was made out of Styrofoam they they ended up kicking large holes in it.

It has been out for a couple of months. It is still out as we speak.

It's made out of a hard plastic material.
