I am wondering what everyone's experience has been with ground blinds. What you have used and if you like it or not. I am in the market for a new one.

Some of the key factors I am looking at is portability, ease of setup/take down, amount of room(nothing worse than not being able to draw your bow without your elbow hitting the wall at full draw), durability and shooting window size/height. I'm not the tallest guy, so need windows that have lower cut outs.

I have used a couple of the Ameristep blinds and for the price I can't complain.

Thanks in advance for feedback.

I've went the ameristep path before. I think, if I would ever get another one, I'd just pony up to get a good quality one. Big enough for 2 people with the intention of only me using it. I know the primos double bull blind is popular.

i have been using Baronett blinds the last few years... i'm 6'5" and in the "Big Mike" I can stand up fully and stretch out if needed. Tons of room in there. They are a little on the heavy side, but for me thats ok as I set it up at the beginning of the season and leave it in place to let the deer get acclimated to it. In my opinion they are the best priced for as big as they are. Dicks in Bismarck had the Big Mike on sale for $149 last week. I also recently just bought the Grounder 350 by Baronett. have yet to set it up, but it is even bigger still than the Big Mike but it has a different window layout. I guess i'll know soon enough whether or not i like it.

I'm not to picky on ground blinds as long as it is a hub style. I'm good to go. The one that have spring steel and roll up into a little circle suck.

Take a look at rhino blinds you can only get them factory direct though so you couldn't go to a store and look it over. But I am happy with mine

I have a Barronet 350 portability and durability have been great. I picked it up mainly because it was dirt cheap at scheels one year. The windows could be a bit bigger. I'm 6' and can't stand up in it. If a deer is level with me I can shoot threw the window fine, but if the deer is lower on a hill I end up shooting threw the blind instead of the window. This hasn't affected a shot but I have random star shaped holes in my blind. My son who's 5' can barley shoot threw the window if he's standing.

I would go to scheels grab a bow and what ever chair you plan on using and check out what angles you would be able to shoot in it.

The Baronett grounder 350 is 6'8" tall (80 inches). u sure you don't have the 250? the 250 is only 5'7" tall...

You are probably correct, just did a quick serch and they both look the same. Mines definatly not 80 in tall.

If you hunt different spots all the time or just want to set it up for one evening I would recommend a ghost blind I've had one for 3 years and the things work. Just don't be surprised when birds fly into it and you crap your pants or have 7 raccoons 2 feet from you. The main reason I like mine though is I can set up ANYWHERE even plowed fields and very portable.

I use the Ameristep Bone Collector blind. Pretty happy with it so far. Seems roomy to me.
I have a double bull dark horse and it's definitely not worth the money at all. I just bought a Bone Collector and I think it's great, I really like the vertical windows and at $135 can't beat it

Great blind, the long corner windows are great to have. A comfortable chair is just as important for long comfortable quiet sits.

Agreed! Got one for a gift when I was young and just starting to hunt more. Mine was too small to draw my bow. Of course I did not test this before hunting out of it. Quite the experience having a deer at 25 yards and not being able to draw. I was able to slowly and quietly zip the window shut in the front, open the back and crawl out. Crouched behind the blind and waited for the deer to look away and when it did I rose, aimed and shot. This was 12-13 years ago and is still my most memorable hunt. Also, my first bow kill and one of my smallest (and dumbest) deer!

Moral of the story, test and practice with all your equipment before use in the field.

I'm not sure how well the newer ones stand up but I have one of the original Double Bull blinds and it's still like new yet. If anyone is interested in it I'd be willing to sell it.
